Football Bet of the Day: Falcao to fire Monaco past not-so-Great Danes

At the time of writing, yesterday's bet is still outstanding - in one sense, at least. At the time of reading, you'll probably know better whether plucky Levante really did light up Thursday nights across Europe with a consolation strike that took their match with Real Sociedad to Over 2.5 Goals.

Anyway. French champions Monaco are averaging almost three goals a game through the first six rounds of the new Ligue 1 season. Led by Falcao, they've struck 17 times already and can keep the pressure up on PSG by taking all three points from their Friday-night trip to Lille.

Last season, Monaco won their two meetings with the Great Danes by an aggregate score of 8-1, and we fancy they can win with something to spare again this time.

Marcelo Bielsa's got the reins at Lille now but, after winning on the opening day, they've now gone five league games without success (W0-D2-L3) and scored just once along the way. Caen and Bordeaux have both shut them out at Stade Pierre-Mauroy recently and we fear for them against the champs.

Monaco lit up Europe last term with their free-scoring approach. They've lost personnel over the summer (Mendy, Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, we could go on...) but the old hitman Falcao's stepped up (he's got an all-time record nine goals through the first six rounds) and they still look too good for Lille, who went W0-D1-L5 hosting last season's top six.
