Kevin Hatchard climbs off his sick bed to file a Thursday treat of two bets in one column, don't say we're not good to you...
"Eibar have been generally strong at their Ipurua base, losing just one of their last six games there, and winning four. Tonight they need another good display, because they are 2-0 down from the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie against second-tier Sporting Gijon."
So, dear reader, your trusty traveller made an unexpected trip to hospital yesterday, hence the lack of a column. Thanks to the wonder that is the NHS, I'm safe, and back on the road.
Therefore, there are two wagers today, you lucky things.
Eibar can land comeback win
Eibar v Sporting Gijon
Thursday 06 December, 17:30
It's been a strange time to be an Eibar fan. Just a couple of weeks ago the Basque club produced one of the greatest results in its history, stuffing mighty Real Madrid 3-0. In a case of whatever the Spanish is for "after the Lord Mayor's Show" Eibar then lost 1-0 at Rayo Vallecano.
Eibar have been generally strong at their Ipurua base, losing just one of their last six games there, and winning four. Tonight they need another good display, because they are 2-0 down from the first leg of their Copa del Rey tie against second-tier Sporting Gijon.
Eibar can take comfort from the fact that Sporting's road form is poor. Los Rojiblancos have won just one of their last seven away games inside 90 minutes, and they lost 3-1 at Eibar in this competition less than two years ago.
I think Eibar can at least come close to turning this tie around, so I'll back them -1.0 on the Asian Handicap at [2.0].
Concordia Chiajna v Universitatea Craiova
Thursday 06 December, 18:00
To Romania now for our extra wager, and one of the high-flyers is visiting a team struggling at the wrong end of the Romanian top flight.
Universitatea Craiova are fourth in the Liga I standings, and have won five of their last seven matches in league and cup. On the road they are particularly efficient, having racked up six wins from their last nine road trips. In five of those games, they have scored at least three goals.
Three goals tonight should be more than enough for victory against Concordia Chiajna. Concordia are without a win in six games, and have scored just one goal in that time. They haven't won a home game since August, and have collected just three points since at the Stadionul Concordia.
Even though Universitatea are priced at [1.76] for the win, I still think it's worth backing them.
