"Everton have a poor record in this fixture, having failed to score in three visits to St Mary’s since Southampton returned to the Premier League."
Andrew Hughes thinks Southampton will bag their first win of the Premier League season on Saturday and help to land another weekend multiple.
Bet 1: Back Southampton to beat Everton at 1.9520/21
Both these sides kicked off their Premier League campaigns with 2-2 draws last weekend, but Southampton's performance was the more impressive and they look a solid bet to pick up their first win of the season on Saturday.
Having failed to strengthen their squad significantly in the summer, Everton could be in for a long hard season, and their scrappy performance against Watford, in which they twice had to come from behind, was not promising.
As Jaymes Monte points out in his must-read match preview, Everton have a poor record in this fixture, having failed to score in three visits to St Mary's since Southampton returned to the Premier League. Saints had the best home record of any side outside the top four last season, and look good for the points.
Bet 2: Back Lancashire to beat Kent at 2.01/1
Kent go into Saturday's final Natwest Blast T20 quarter-final as favourites, but although Lancashire sneaked into the last eight on net run-rate, I think they can upset the odds in Canterbury.
The Spitfires won nine of their thirteen completed games on their way to topping the South Group, whereas Lancashire were inconsistent throughout, but knock-out Twenty20 cricket brings a different kind of pressure, and the visitors, who were beaten finalists in this competition last year have the greater experience.
They also have a couple of proven big game players in James Faulkner and England hero Jos Buttler, who returns for this match. Kent have relied on talented young batsmen like Alex Blake and Sam Northeast but bowling is their weaker suit and they could suffer if Buttler gets going. Back the visitors to make the semi-finals.
Bet 3: Back Wakefield to beat Bradford at 1.42/5
Wakefield lost their first game in the Qualifiers to Salford last weekend, but they should be able to get a win on the board on Saturday.
The Wildcats have endured a disastrous season so far, a campaign that has included the longest losing-run in their Super League history, but they showed signs of improvement against the Reds and were leading 26-22 with 10 minutes to go before a Rangi Chase long-range try sparked a late Salford revival.
A reproduction of the fighting spirit they showed in coming back from an early 16-0 deficit in that game, combined with home advantage should be enough to see off Championship side Bradford whose form going into the Super 8s has been patchy.
