Weekend Multiple: Back Saddlers to shackle Shakers

"Dean Smith’s Walsall have started the season in confident form and are already looking like realistic promotion candidates..."

Andrew Hughes thinks League One leaders Walsall will beat Bury on Saturday and help to land another Weekend Multiple in the process

Bet 1: Back Walsall to beat Bury at 2.1511/10

Bury have no trouble finding the net on their return to League One, bagging ten goals in their five games so far, but they've also conceded eleven and their weakness at the back could cost them against the league leaders.

Having added a little more urgency to their usual fluid possession-based style, Dean Smith's Walsall have started the season in confident form and are already looking like realistic promotion candidates in a wide open division.

In recent years they have been strongest on the road, but home victories over Coventry and Brighton suggest that the Banks's Stadium could be a difficult place to visit this season. As Alan Dudman points out in his League One preview, they have the second meanest defence in the division, and with Tom Bradshaw, Romaine Sawyers and Sam Mantom in goal-scoring form, they look dangerous up front. Back them to bag another three points.

Bet 2: Back England to beat Australia at 2.47/5

England's one-day resurgence came to a halt in Southampton on Thursday but they can regain some momentum by levelling the series at Lord's.

Australia set England a good target of 305 in the opening game but the home side had shown earlier in the summer that such a total is within their grasp and at 152-2 just after the halfway stage, they should have done better.

England miss the class of Joe Root at three, but they have played an enterprising brand of cricket under Eoin Morgan this summer and will stick to their attractive approach. They matched the World Cup finalists New Zealand earlier in the season and at 2.47/5 they are a good bet to upset the world champions.

Bet 3: Back Ireland to beat England at 3.185/40

This is the final World Cup warm-up game for both these sides and the visitors look at good bet. England have looked shaky in both of their matches against France, and although they will be desperate to get some pre-tournament momentum going, Stuart Lancaster's team still look like a work in progress.

Ireland were given a shock by a tough Wales side last weekend and will be keen to reassert their authority over a key northern hemisphere rival. Joe Schmidt has named a strong side and at odds against, the Six Nations champions look good value to end their World Cup preparations with a victory.
