"Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and Roberto Martinez’s men have kept six clean sheets in their last ten home games."
Andrew Hughes thinks Everton can hold the Premier League pace-setters to a draw on Sunday and help to land another weekend multiple.
Bet 1: Back Everton to draw with Manchester City at 4.03/1
Manchester City have made an impressive start to their Premier League season but I expect them to drop their first points of the campaign on Sunday.
They were impressive in disposing of West Brom and an out-of-sorts Chelsea, but Everton will offer stiff resistance and it is worth noting that City don't have a great record at Goodison Park, winning on only one of their last six Premier League visits.
Last season's corresponding fixture ended in a 1-1 stalemate, and Roberto Martinez's men have kept six clean sheets in their last ten home games. They will be set up to contain their visitors, and as Paul Robinson points out in his must-read preview, City could be in for a tough afternoon on Merseyside.
Bet 2: Back South Africa to beat New Zealand at 1.42/5
New Zealand lost the opening one day international against South Africa on Wednesday and I can't see them levelling the series this weekend.
The Black Caps have played some exciting cricket in recent months, particularly in the fifty over format, but they are missing some key players for this series. In the absence of Brendan McCullum, Ross Taylor and Corey Anderson, their middle order lacks power, and their pace bowling also looks weak.
South Africa are also under-strength, but Hashim Amla, A B De Villiers and David Miller are all potential match-winners and they have a potent opening bowling partnership in Dale Steyn and Vernon Philander. Back the home side to make it 2-0.
Bet 3: Back Halifax to beat Sheffield at 2.35/4
Both sides have lost their opening two games in the Qualifiers, but Sheffield are under the greater pressure. Halifax would not have expected to beat Widnes or Hull KR, but the Eagles have suffered a 42-10 defeat at the hands of fellow Championship side Bradford, a fixture they would have been hoping to get something out of.
Sheffield beat Halifax on home turf in April, but Halifax emerged triumphant from their last meeting in July and go into this game in better form. It should be a close one, but the visitors look overpriced at 2.35/4 and are a good bet to edge it.
