Paul Higham is backing [2/1] Crystal Palace to pip Poznan, Bournemouth to pick up a point in Spain and Celtic to get a welcome win in his best bets for Thursday's Europa League action.

Crete v Hoffenheim Tip - Back goals in Greece

A trip to the Greek isles for Hoffenheim as 4/111.36 favourites to beat Crete, who've won five in a row at home, each by at least two goals while keeping four clean sheets. It's not been a great start to the season for the Germans who'll be disappointed to even be in the Europa League given they lost their Champions League place on the last day of last season.

Hoffenheim have scored 10 goals in four games this season so even though Crete have defended well at home they shouldn't really be a match for them, but with the Greeks also prolific at home we should have a few goals to talk about.

Crystal Palace v Poznan Tip - Back 2/13.00 Eagles but a goal for Poles

Palace will hope Pierre Sage can pick up where Oliver Glasner left off as they step up to the Europa League. It's been a tough start results wise but with some promising signs here and there - a win over Lech Poznan as 1/31.33 favourites would help.

The Eagles have been sound at home in Europe, scoring twice or more in five of six, but the Poles have also netted in 15 straight European road games so with Palace conceding 11 so far and the the visitors flying through qualifying with 6-0 and 9-2 aggregate wins there's every chance of them finding the net.

Sociedad v Bournemouth Tip - Cherries pick up a point in Spain

Conceding late goals has cost Bournemouth dear this season as otherwise they've played some good stuff ahead of their European debut out in Spain where they are slight favourites at 6/42.50 - although Real Sociedad are 13/82.63 themselves but are still reeling after a 0-3 home defeat to Atletico at the weekend.

Like the Cherries, Sociedad have served up a bit of everything so the result here is a tough one to call. We should get goals at both ends but Marco Rose's side haven't been able to keep hold of a lead, so a score draw here looks the play.

Juventus v NEC Tip - Back a home win to nil in Turin

A tough start for the Dutch side with one win in six, dropping out of Champions League qualifying and now heading to Turin as big as 11/112.00 underdogs. Juve do have injuries and suffered that late defeat against Sassuolo at the weekend but nothing to suggest they won't win this one.

NEC were beaten 3-0 at Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League, and also lost 3-0 away in the Eredivisie at the weekend and this one could easily go the same way.

Besiktas v Merseille Tip - Back Turkish delight at 5/23.50

Vincenzo Italiano's Besiktas have played 11 games already this season, winning nine in a solid start so they're worthy 3/41.75 favourites given Marseille have lost three on the spin and have Le Classique against PSG coming up on Sunday.

Besiktas have five clean sheets in six at home while Marseille have failed to score in their last two away games so this has enough trends behind it for another win to nil.

Celtic v Ferencvaros Tip - Back a 2/13.00 boost for Bhoys

Celtic's consolation for that incredible collapse against LASK is the Europa League, and first up a home tie with Ferencvaros as 4/61.67 favourites - despite a crushing 3-0 Old Firm defeat at the weekend.

The Hungarians have just one clean sheet in nine road trips at this stage, but they can pose a threat early on as they've scored in the first half in six of the past seven, so Celtic will need to be on their toes.

The Bhoys really need a boost so at home we'll back them to get a welcome win, but I don't think they'll keep a clean sheet.
