Notts County continue to score plenty under Luke Williams

Alan Dudman has looked at Tuesday's games in the EFL and has a pair of decent price trebles to back...

  • Oxford for a HT/FT punt on Tuesday

  • Crewe the xG Kings to get another result

  • Two midweek Sportsbook trebles at 8/19.00 and 23/124.00

League One

Leg 1: Back Oxford HT/FT v Shrewsbury

Oxford lie in second - a point behind League One leaders Portsmouth and are one of the shortest prices for Tuesday night in the outrights at 1/21.50, but the HT/FT price of 7/52.40 is the one to include for the midweek acca as Liam Manning's side have picked up nine points at home so far.

A pretty damning stat for Shrewsbury makes them hard to fancy, as they have suffered defeats in nine of their last 10 away league games, winning the other 1-0 at Fleetwood in August.

The Shrews are struggling to score away too with just one goal on the road and eight of their ten matches have hit the Under 2.5 Goals bet, so I cannot see them troubling a good side Oxford too much.

KEY OPTA STAT: Oxford have only lost one of their last 10 league meetings with Shrewsbury (W7 D2), although that was the most recent in February of last season (0-1).

Leg 2: Back Under 2.5 Goals Northampton v Reading

Both Reading and Northampton look set for a season of struggle and Reading's price of 9/110.00 in the ante-post market now looks miles out considering their off the field problems too.

Northampton have lost three of their five so far at Sixfields, and Jon Brady's side collected a much needed win on Saturday with an excellent 0-2 at Exeter - and they were big outsiders for that.

The last league meetings between Northampton and Reading came in the 2001-02 season, with the Royals avoiding defeat in both (won 2-0 away, drew 0-0 home) and I can see this being a game of few goals - with both in need of a point. Indeed, Reading away have a poor xG of 1.09 while Northampton have an xG against at home of 1.08, so the Evens appeals for Under 2.5 Goals - which is bigger than the overs price.

KEY OPTA STAT: Reading have lost 14 of their last 16 away league games (D2), including each of their last seven; the Royals last endured a longer losing run on the road in the league in September 1998 (15).

Leg 3: Back Under 2.5 Goals Bristol Rovers v Port Vale

Vale are churning out some good results and their opening day 7-0 defeat at Barnsley looks a real anomaly, as they are now in the top six and outrunning their ante-post odds by some way at the moment.

Indeed, since losing their season opener at Barnsley, the Valiants are unbeaten in four away league games (W2 D2), last going five without a league defeat on their travels in April 2022, and those two draws make the punt on the outright draw a possibility.

Rovers are proving to be inconsistent, and after really clicking as a team last week, they lost to Peterborough on Saturday without scoring and previously they hit four past Wigan, so they are inconsistent.

Vale away are just 1.19 xG and I am tapping into that figure for the 20/231.87 on the Under 2.5.

KEY OPTA STAT: After their 2-0 win in April last season, Port Vale are looking to earn back-to-back Football League victories over Bristol Rovers for the first time since November 2012 (run of 3)

League Two

Back Crewe to beat Gillingham

Crewe are still providing the most entertainment in League Two by miles and they have now scored 13 at home and 11 away, and are hitting highs on the xG and even with their fine start, they are still giving up a few goals and have an xA of 1.73 at home.

Gillingham have only failed to score in one of their last 16 league meetings with Crewe (W9 D2 L5), a 0-2 defeat in November 2021, and while they picked up a good point at the weekend against Mansfield, their away record of scored four and conceded four might make this difficult against a free-scoring side.

The Alex remain unbeaten in 12 home league matches (W9 D3); they last had a longer such streak in the Football League in December 1995 (14) and look a sound price at 9/52.80 for a home win.

KEY OPTA STAT: Since winning four successive away league games from May to August, Gillingham lost both of their two such matches in September.

Leg 2: Back BTTS First Half Notts County v Swindon

The Magpies were involved in an astonishing game at the weekend - losing 5-4 at Colchester despite a Macauley Langstaff brace. Luke Williams' side are still top on 20 points though, and it's no surprise the overs are expecting to be popular this Tuesday.

For that reason, and with potential goals, the first-half market could provide a nice booster to the acca with the 11/53.20 price on BTTS in the first 45 minutes.

County are 1.66 xG at home, and they have won all four of their home league games this season; in the Football League, only in 1890-91 (5), 1930-31 (7) and 1960-61 (7) have the Magpies ever had a longer winning streak to start a season at home.

Swindon have drawn each of their last three away league games, all by a different score (5-5 v Wrexham, 0-0 v Doncaster, 2-2 v Morecambe). They last had a longer run of successive away league draws in April 1992 (5).

KEY OPTA STAT: Swindon have won their last three league meetings with Notts County, last beating them four times running in April 1996.

Leg 3: Back Crawley to beat Doncaster

After beating Gillingham 2-1, Doncaster are looking to earn successive home league victories for the first time since February of last season, and Donny under Grant McCann were a bit unlucky at the weekend in losing 3-2 at Barrow.

They also played well on the road at Wrexham with a 2-1 loss and had the most possession in that game against a free-scoring side.

However, Crawley are doing well this term with 20 points, and while they are a bit leaky on the road with goals conceded, they have won four on the spin and I am backing them to do so again.

KEY OPTA STAT: After their 3-2 win at Grimsby in September, Crawley could enjoy back-to-back away league victories for the first time since January 2022.
