Saturday League One Tips - Two draws and a win in 30/131.00 treble

Leg 1: Reading v Notts County Tip: Back The Draw @ 11/43.75

In seven league and cup games, Notts County have managed five draws including a pair of 1-1s against Yorkshire duo Huddersfield and Doncaster on the road, and I don't want to deviate too far from a tight game.

The value play here is surely going for the 11/43.75 against a Reading side providing plenty of entertainment at home.

County boss Martin Paterson, who has a look of Frank Lampard senior, oversaw his first loss of the season on Saturday against Bradford, who surely will be promotion candidates and not a lot was in the game.

Reading have won just two of their last 11 League One fixtures (D3 L6), though both of those victories have come across their last two home matches and that draw column against a tight County side is the one that interests me.

KEY OPTA STAT: Since 1959, Notts County have won just one of their 13 away league games against Reading (D3 L9), a 3-1 victory in the third tier in March 1989.

Leg 2: Oxford United v Cambridge United Tip: Back Oxford to win @ 23/202.15

The Varsity match pits fourth against fifth and Oxford have really found their groove of late to warrant an outright back here.

Aaron Ramsey's side are going to keep the ball a lot this term and with 65% of the ball against Burton last week, got the win they deserved at 3-0, although two goals came in 90 minutes.

The crucial aspect was backing up the previous 4-0 romp against Leicester, which they did thanks to some fine play from 18-year-old Mo Missanga who is providing assists and thrills.

At Leicester they recorded a huge 2.22 xG on the road and are unbeaten across their last 13 home league games against Cambridge United since 1992 (W10 D3), winning the last six in succession.

KEY OPTA STAT: Oxford have netted 12 goals in League One this season despite attempting a joint-league low 57 shots in total - their 21.1% shot conversion rate is currently the highest in the competition.

Leg 3: Barnsley v Leicester City Tip: Back The Draw @ 3/14.00

Two sides that love the ball (or keep the ball and do nothing with it is another slant on things) but that's Russell Martin's way.

Martin, a man on the end of some serious ire of late, fought his corner with a much-needed win last week at Stockport, conceding three but scoring four. Martin is often the architect of his own problems but he's gone into a club that is in a mess.

Barnsley's ball retention saw them go down 3-0 at Plymouth and are flirting with being one of the most erratic sides in the league. They scored three at Orient and promptly conceded five against Stevenage.

The Tykes have attempted the most shots of any League One side so far this season (106), though currently possess just a 5.7% shot conversion rate - the third-worst percentage in the competition and I am going for the two to cancel themselves out and a second draw gives us a massive treble.

KEY OPTA STAT: This season in League One, Leicester led the competition for highest average possession in their matches (65.6%), while also possessing the highest pass accuracy rate of any team (86.7%).

League Two Tips - Goals treble pays at 10/34.33

Leg 1: Walsall v Port Vale Tip: Back Under 2.5 Goals @ 4/51.80

Walsall let the column down last weekend, denying us a treble in a 0-0 with Rochdale. All the ball, all the possession, all the shots but no goals.

It was their third successive draw (Walsall's) and manager Lee Grant wants the good play turned into wins. "We've got to find a way in the games we should win, to win. In the games where we have to be resolute, and fight and scrap, then fine," said Grant.

With three 0-0s in the bank, taking on a Vale side who are hardly blessed with a goal threat and with just three goals scored all season as well as an away xG of just over 1.20, this can hopefully go to Walsall in a 1-0 or 2-0.

KEY OPTA STAT: Walsall are yet to lose in League Two this season (W2 D4), the first time that they avoided defeat in their first six games of an EFL season since 2020-21 (first 8).

Leg 2: Crewe Alexandra v Shrewsbury Town Tip: Back Under 2.5 Goals @ 3/41.75

Crewe edged wins in their first two games and since they've also gone a bit draw happy with their last four matches showing DDDD.

Three of those were Under 2.5 Goals and they managed to snatch a last-minute equaliser at Colchester last Saturday for a point.

Lee Bell's side look tougher this year, as they have often been labelled as an easy side to play against.

Opponents Shrewsbury will hurt very few teams and already have got some poor metrics on the xG with their home goals at just 1.10. They have failed to score away from home in their three road games and unders looks the play.

KEY OPTA STAT: Shrewsbury have one draw and seven defeats across their last eight away games in the EFL, scoring only one goal during that span.

Leg 3: Chesterfield v York City Tip: Back Over 2.5 Goals @ 4/51.80

It was a toss-up between this game and my boys at Barnet, who fired us in a nice 7/42.75 single winner for the column last week, but Paul Cook's Chesterfield are giving us goals.

Last week a win for Cook. And one of my midfield wizards Dilan Markanday was the hero in a 1-2 success at Oldham.

The Spirerites were also involved in that thrilling 3-3 at home to Barnet, and if you are scoring three against the Bees, you can score against most.

Chesterfield's last three have all been BTTS and York are doing better, as they've scored in every single League Two match this term and sit third in the table under Scott Lindsey.

KEY OPTA STAT: York City have collected 11 points in League Two this season (W3 D2 L1), their best total after the first six games in the EFL since 2003-04 (12).
