Play this midweek 100/30 home double
There is a price in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night that looks too generous to ignore. Bournemouth at 11/102.11 to beat Aston Villa in 90 minutes is the value play, with Unai Emery's relationship with domestic cup competitions offering a compelling reason to oppose the visitors.
Emery is rightly regarded as one of Europe's finest tactical coaches but his record in the domestic cups since taking charge at Villa Park has been underwhelming. In five seasons, he has never taken Villa beyond the fourth round of the League Cup, exiting in the third round in four of those campaigns. His FA Cup record is hardly more convincing, progressing beyond the fourth round just once.
That is a pattern worth paying attention to. It suggests these competitions have not always been a priority for Emery, particularly when the demands of the Premier League and European football start to pile up.
Bournemouth v Aston Villa (Match Odds)

And the schedule could hardly make rotation more tempting. Wednesday's tie will be Villa's sixth game in 18 days, following an international break in which several players were involved in four matches across 10 days. With a Premier League trip to Fulham on Saturday evening, Emery has every incentive to manage workloads and protect key players.
That creates an opportunity for brilliant Bournemouth, who have a clear route to the next if Villa arrive with a weakened starting XI or lack their usual intensity.
New manager bounce theory worth a punt
One theory I like to play in football betting is the reaction that can follow a managerial departure, particularly in the first home game after the axe falls.
The atmosphere can become more forgiving, supporters rally behind the players and those in the dressing room suddenly have a fresh slate to play for. It is not a guaranteed bounce, but at the right price, it can be worth exploiting.
Sheffield Wednesday fit the bill on Tuesday. Henrik Pedersen has been sacked following back-to-back away defeats, leaving the Owls with an opportunity to reset in front of their own supporters against Cambridge. At [Evens] to win, I think they are worth a roll of the dice.
Cambridge's away record looks a trap. They are unbeaten in five League One trips this season but dig into the underlying numbers and there are reasons to question how sustainable that run is.
Across those five matches, Cambridge have posted an expected goal difference of minus 2.06, while expected-points data suggests they have collected around four points more than their performances warranted. Those are not numbers that scream away-day dominance.
The margins have been fine and fine margins have a habit of swinging the other way over time. Cambridge deserve credit for getting results, but their unbeaten run may be flattering them.
Combine that potential regression with the emotional lift Wednesday could get from a managerial change and the price becomes appealing.
