Reds to move one step closer to the title
-
Blues to be stung at Brentford
-
Norwich to deliver at generous odds
Leg 1 Liverpool (90mins) @ 4/91.44 (15:00)
Plenty has been written in the press this week about 'Klopp's Kids' and while they face another tricky fixture at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, I still expect them to win.
Liverpool will be welcoming back Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai into the squad, and while they won't start, it does give them extra strength from the bench.
Forest were beaten here by Man United during the week, and that came on the back of a 4-2 loss at Villa Park. That makes it three defeats out of four for Nuno's team, and two from their last three at home.
Leg 2 Brentford (90mins) @ 9/52.80 (15:00)
Losing to West Ham is hardly ideal preparation for any game, but at least the Bees have had two extra days rest compared to their opponents here.
Chelsea were involved in a tough five goal thriller with Leeds on Wednesday, and just six days ago, they went into extra time against Liverpool at Wembley.
Thomas Frank's side represent a bit of value here, and their performances have been at least better since Ivan Toney returned.
Leg 3 Norwich (90mins) @ 4/51.80 (15:00)
The Canaries extended their unbeaten run to five in their 1-1 draw at Ewood Park last weekend, and that extends to nine if we just focus on their home league matches - seven of which were victories.
Sunderland have now lost their last three, and interim manager, Mike Dodds couldn't arrest the slide when they were beaten 1-2 at home by Swansea last week.
At the prices, Norwich are shaping up to be the best bet of the weekend.
Leg 4 Millwall (90mins) @ 13/102.30 (15:00)
Neil Harris is back at his beloved Millwall, and he hit the ground running by leading the team to a 1-2 victory at St Mary's. It was the team's first win since New Year's Day, and they can make it back-to-back against Watford.
The Hornets slumped to a 1-2 home defeat to Huddersfield last Saturday - I successfully featured them in my Acca Wreckers section - and it's now five losses from their last six for Valérien Ismaël - who must be getting nervous.
Leg 5 Portsmouth (90mins) @ 4/71.57 (15:00)
Pompey have some breathing room at the top of League One thanks to both Derby and Bolton losing their last two games each.
The leaders were held to a goalless draw at Charlton last weekend, but it at least extended their unbeaten run to eight - six wins and two draws.
Oxford are in the Play-off hunt, but they head to Fratton Park on the back of a loss at home to Leyton Orient, and their form has been pretty scrappy in 2024.
Acca Wreckers
Ipswich are fighting hard for automatic promotion to the Premier League, but they are a bit short at 8/131.61 to go and win at Plymouth.
The Tractor Boys have returned to form, but the hosts have thrived in front of their own fans in recent seasons, and they don't appear to have been too damaged by the departure of Steven Schumacher.
Bournemouth head north to Turf Moor on Sunday lunchtime, and even though Burnley have been hugely disappointing this season, I couldn't back the Cherries at 5/61.84 for the win.
Dominic Solanke has been pivotal to Bournemouth's success this season, but he is injured, and his side are winless in six, regardless.
There isn't much to shout about with regards to Burnley's form, but they did at least hold Luton and Fulham here recently.
