Man City deserves whatever punishment they get
We haven't seen anything the size of this ever in football before. It's as big as we've seen. The Premier League have found them guilty on every single charge. It's now about what comes next. It's not a great look for football, it's not good for the Premier League and the sooner the better we hear what the sanctions are going to be.
Obviously, City are going to appeal, but we'll have to wait and see what's thrown at them now in terms of the sanctions and then I guess they'll appeal them.
I hope that it doesn't go on forever because it's such a bad look. At the minute, City sit top of the Premier League, the Premier League that they've been found guilty on 115 charges, and this statement was pretty damning in what they've been found guilty of, or charged with.
Manchester City deserves whatever punishment they get. We'll have to wait to see what they do get, but whatever they get, they have no one else to blame but themselves.
You have to also think and look at the other clubs, whether that be Liverpool or whether that be Man United or whether that be Arsenal who have lost out on titles, other clubs who have lost out on Champions League places and other clubs who have been relegated.
City's big football moments are tainted
This is huge for English football. It's like something we've never ever seen before, and the ramifications will be going on for years because what happens next? Do we see a scenario like we saw in what Burnley are doing to Everton and they're suing them? Do we see a scenario where they're stripped of Premier League titles?
The greatest moment in terms of an iconic moment for the Premier League was that Sergio Aguero moment. Now, all these are tainted. I mean, that for me is that moment when you hear Martin Tyler and Aguero score that goal, that for me is the iconic moment of the Premier League.
That clearly wouldn't have happened if they weren't able to bring all those top players there, you know? So, I don't know, it's just a huge, huge mess.
The longer the situation goes on, the longer it damages English football
You know what I think of the rules, but they're there. Blackburn wouldn't be able to do what they did with today's PSR rules. It's pretty simple. A guy coming in with his own money from that area who wanted to support and promote his club. Clearly, if he wanted to come in and do that today and spend like he did at Blackburn, that wouldn't be possible in today's rules.
I'm not a fan of the rules, but other clubs have had to adhere to the rules, Newcastle being one of them, and the Premier League have said that Man City haven't.
You can't have one club saying, 'OK, well, we'll just do what we want then and everyone else has to go along with those rules.' It's a horrible situation. We've now got City who are sitting top of the league and it's ironic they're going to Liverpool in their next game.
That's why I feel as if it has to be sorted sooner rather than later because the longer it drags on, the longer it damages English football and the Premier League. Because you've got a team who are there and all these charges have been thrown at them.
They keep on saying they've got evidence to suggest it's all wrong. Well, this has been going on for years and you've got an independent panel who have just gone, 'No, you're wrong. You're totally wrong.' Now, they're sitting top of our league at this moment in time. Every single game that they play, you can imagine the scenario at every single ground they go to.
It's the fans that you have to feel sorry for because it's got nothing to do with them. I know the players who went in there and the managers who've been in there and tried and tried and did their very best. But some of those, if not a lot of those players, wouldn't have been at City if they hadn't broken the rules.
I would assume the players would have some sort of get-out clause if they get relegated
Man City obviously stockpiled, or it looks as if they stockpiled signings in the summer, but also if it is true that they knew they were in trouble in the summer and then still signed all these players. I guess from a player's point of view, if your representative hasn't got a get-out clause, even if there was a small chance you might think about getting out because this is bigger than anyone thought what would come out.
I would assume representatives of those players would have some sort of get-out, even if it was a small chance that they would be able to get out for whatever reason, and it's a big if. If they get enough points docked that relegates them, then the likes of the big players are not going to want to play in the Championship.
I'd love to say that the City players have just got to try and concentrate on football. I guess that's a stock answer, but that must be very difficult with the news and the size of the news and how it's going to hit them. It's alright saying we'll just go out and we'll play because it's our job and they get paid to play football and all of those things, but the ramifications for the club and for them, who knows?
We're guessing here, but I guess the size and the scale of what's been thrown at them suggest that there is every chance that the points deduction could relegate them, and there is a possibility they get a points reduction for the next five years or however many years.
I've seen all different scenarios, so I guess we're all guessing as to what's going to happen, which is why the sooner something happens, the better it is for English football because it's not a good look whilst they're sat top of the Premier League.
You've got World Cup winners and you've got superstars. Football is a short enough career as it is, so I don't suspect that they would want to go down a league for a year. Now, we don't know. We're guessing that might not happen. It may just be a points reduction so that they can't qualify for Europe or it makes it difficult for them. I guess we're just saying that these are all different scenarios that could happen.
