Suresh Raina is an Indian cricket player currently playing for the Indian national team and domestically for Uttar Pradesh and for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. The batting all-rounder has played for India in all three formats of the game, although it has been ODI and Twenty20 cricket in which Raina has found the majority of his success. Raina scored a century on his Test debut against Sri Lanka, becoming the first Indian batsman to score a century in all three formats of the game.

Predominantly a batsman, Raina is also a very capable off-spin bowler, with 13 Test, 21 ODI and five T20 wickets to his name. Despite making over 180 ODI appearances for India, Raina has struggled to cement a place in the Test side, instead making a name for himself as one of the most effective players in the shorter formats of the game.
After coming to the Indian selectors' attention as a teenager, Raina made his ODI debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 18. After initially failing to keep his place in the team, Raina went on to establish himself as a key part of the Indian ODI team, scoring nearly 4,500 runs over the duration of just over 180 matches, including three centuries and 29 half centuries. The batsman was an important member of India's 2011 World Cup winning squad, playing crucial innings in the quarter-finals and semi-finals.
Despite making his ODI debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka, Raina had to wait five years before making his Test debut, again against Sri Lanka, called up for the second Test. After arriving at the crease with India in trouble, Raina and Sachin Tendulkar put on a double century partnership to save the game for India, with Raina hitting a sensational 122. The batsman failed to really build on his impressive debut, however, eventually dropped from the Test side after a poor run of form later that year.
The IPL has been where Raina has really been able to prove his capabilities. Raina holds the record for most appearances, runs and catches in the tournament, helping the Super Kings to back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011 and to runners-up finishes in 2012 and 2013.
Raina has managed to score over 400 runs in all six years he has appeared in the IPL, becoming the first Indian player to hit over 100 sixes in the competition.
