Steven Finn

Steven Finn is an English cricket player who currently plays for Middlesex County Cricket Club and the England national team. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler, able to bowl with significant pace and bounce due to his 6ft 7in frame. Finn became Middlesex's youngest ever debutant in first-class cricket when he made his debut at just 16-years-old. After making his England Test debut in 2010 against Bangladesh, Finn went on to become the youngest England player to take 50 Test wickets.

After an impressive start to his first class career with Middlesex, Finn was just 20 when he broke into the England squad after impressing for the Lions. The bowler was selected for the series in Bangladesh, going on to take four wickets in the two England victories. Following an impressive start to the County season, Finn was named in the squad to face Bangladesh in England. In the first match, Finn finished his home debut with nine wickets, taking a second five-for in the series in the second Test and picking up the Player of the Series award following his 15 wickets.

Finn's performances saw him named Best Emerging Player at the 2010 ICC Awards, also resulting in the bowler earning a place in England's 2010-2011 Ashes series. Finn made his Ashes debut in the first Test at The Gabba in Brisbane, finishing the first Test with career-best figures of 6-125, his third five-wicket haul in only his ninth Test. He took a further eight wickets in the next two Tests, as England won in Adelaide before Australia squared the series at Perth. Finn finished his first Ashes series with 14 wickets at an average of 33.14.

Finn finished 2011 by taking eight wickets in the disappointing ODI series whitewash in India, ending the series as England's leading wicket-taker in a line-up missing the likes of James Anderson and Stuart Broad. 2012 was a mixed year for Finn, suffering from injury throughout the season before ending the English summer by taking eight wickets against South Africa.

Finn was a key part of the England side that drew their three Test series against New Zealand at the start of 2013, keeping his place in the team for the return series in which England were victorious. Despite his encouraging start to the year, Finn lost his place in the England team during the 2013 Ashes series, failing to make an appearance in the 2013/2014 Ashes despite England's disappointing series defeat.
