Jacques Kallis is a South African cricket player who performs as an all-rounder at domestic and international level.

He is the only player in history to score more than 11,000 runs and pick up 250 wickets in both one-day and Test cricket. Kallis also finished as South Africa's leading Test runscorer and third highest in the history of the game behind Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.
In terms of individual honours, he was voted the ICC Test Player of the Year and ICC Player of the Year in 2005, while three years later he was named Leading Cricketer of the Year by Wisden.
Kallis retired from first-class and Test cricket in December 2013. His final Test match for South Africa came against India at Durban. He bowed out by scoring a century, the 45th of his career.
The right-handed batsman and bowler started his domestic career for the Western Province in 1993. Not long after, he made his debut for South Africa in a Test match against England in Durban on December 1995.
The national team also called him up to the one-day squad for the home series against England. He remained with the squad for the 1996 World Cup but he did not start every game. Despite winning Group B in the opening stage, South Africa were beaten in the quarter-finals against the West Indies.
There was some success for the Proteas and Kallis in 1998 though as they won the ICC Champions Trophy in Bangladesh. They gained revenge on West Indies by defeating them in the final by four wickets. The Cape Town born player was Man of the Match after taking five wickets for 30. He also contributed with 37 runs with the bat as his side chased down their target of 246.
From December 2007 into early 2008, Kallis went through a phase where he scored five centuries in four matches.
Kallis's highest Test match score came in 2011 against Sri Lanka. In the Third Test of their home series he reached 224 in the opening innings before falling. That was the second double century of his career. His previous double ton came against India in an unbeaten 201 in 2010.
When the all-rounder retired from Test cricket he had featured in 166 games for his country and ended with a batting average over 55.
Kallis still features in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
