Australia v Pakistan World Cup team news

Australia were buoyed by their success against Sri Lanka. They will feel their axing of Alex Carey for Josh Inglis was justified after the wicketkeeper guided them home in a tricky chase. Wickets for Adam Zampa were also a major boost.

Probable XI: Warner, M Marsh, Smith, Labuschagne, Inglis, Maxwell, Stoinis, Cummins, Starc, Zampa, Hazlewood

Pakistan's preparation has been hampered by a fever spreading through the camp. Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Usama Mir and Zaman Khan have been unwell. Shafique has been quarantined in his room so his spot could be in jeopardy. Fakhar Zaman will come back in. Afridi is expected to play.

Possible XI: Fakhar, Imam, Babar, Rizwan, Shakeel, Iftikhar, Shadab, Nawaz, Hasan, Afridi, Rauf

Australia v Pakistan World Cup pitch report

The Bangalore surface has a reputation for runmaking in the IPL. There have been only two ODI in six years at the ground but it has appeared flat. Australia failed to defend 286 in 2020 for example. Pakistan would prefer a surface which is two-paced to expose Australian middle-order frailties. Both teams to score 275 at 13/102.30 with Sportsbook could see business.

Australia v Pakistan World Cup match odds

Australia are as short as 1.608/13 with Pakistan 2.6413/8. It is hard to reckon the gulf in odds is justified.

Neither side have looked flawless. Australia were well-beaten by India and South Africa while they were far from convincing against Sri Lanka, who had the game in their pocket before collapse. Pakistan were outclassed by India.

Both teams seem to have the same issues; frail bowling and a batting order prone to disaster. This looks a choice affair.

Australia v Pakistan World Cup player bets

David Warner has a win rate of 32% on top Aussie bat in the last two years and we're waiting for him to cop. He took a ton off Pakistan in the last World Cup so the 3/14.00 is ticking boxes. We note the 11/26.50 about Glenn Maxwell for top bowler, too, given his increasing importance. Babar Azam is 11/43.75 and that is value on win rate.
