Trinbago Knight Riders, the holders, managed a win which breathed life into their campaign on Saturday morning. It was the hallmark of a champion; hammering Barbados Royals by seven wickets after restricting them to 127 for nine.

They got home easily thanks to a fifty from Sunil Narine, returned to the opening slot. With five to play a play-off is still in their hands.

Defeating Jamaica will be a huge step in the right direction as this is Kingsmen's eighth match. They have to keep winning to remain in the race.

Kingsmen have probably picked up since in terms of firepower. Saim Ayub's return to the CPL and form is a welcome sight. It wasn't so long ago that he was a run machine in this competition and in his second innings he smashed a 58-ball 102 as Kingsmen took down Patriots.

Ayub dominated for Guyana in the 2023 season. That included a 62 from 43 to take the man of the match award as Warriors beat TKR on this ground. Ayub is not the worst option in the world to follow for back-to-back efforts.

A stronger Jamaica line-up means they have appeal on the match odds market. TKR remain overrated, particularly as there is a bias for the chaser at Queen's Park Oval. It is highly unlikely that a price of around 2.407/5 is cut off the flip.

One win in five for Patriots means they are staring at last-place finish again. Falcons are in second position and they will go top with two points, boosting their net run rate which remains in the red. They may also view the game as an opportunity to boost that run rate.

On a flat Warner Park surface the ideal would be for them to bat first, post something monstrous and then hope scoreboard pressure does the rest. Eight overs of wily spin from Sufiyan Muqeem and Shadab Khan could well trouble a demotivated Patriots.

It is fair, though, to reckon that the wicket is good enough for batting to allow both teams to hit well. Warner Park can be a road and it looked pretty good when Saim Ayub was smoking it to all parts.

The 15/82.88 that both teams score 170 is the safest option. It won in the Jamaica-Pats game and has copped six times in the last ten.

There is probably some nervousness about the Pats batting (they are bottom on strike rate) but Andre Fletcher rediscovered his touch last time out in terms of personnel they should be doing better in that discipline. Knowing that their season is almost certainly over could free up strokemakers.
