The sportingbet.com Handicap at Windsor last Sunday was a highly-competitive affair and should throw up winners, with a case to be made for the whole field, even if the winner seemed the one least likely to score on recent form. The pace was better than might have been expected, though all but one had a chance as they entered the final furlong, writes Timeform.
Dubai Crest bounced back to form after a couple of disappointing efforts, travelling well under a patient ride and coaxed to the front near the line. Though this success was something of a surprise, Amanda Perrett's colt had run well off a higher mark back in the spring. Ten furlongs may well be the optimum trip for the useful Dubai Crest, who looks all set to make his presence felt in better handicaps from now on.
Runner-up Call It On ran well for a change of tactics, dictating and seeing off all challenges until very near the line. Mark Tompkins' colt possesses a good attitude and, whilst he's close to having to go into a higher grade, he should continue to give a good account.
Mary Goodnight build on her debut effort in third, though her inexperience was her undoing on the day. She showed greenness when asked for her effort and was unable to get past the leader as a result. This performance suggests she has more to offer and is likely to be up to winning from a similar mark.
Fourth placed North Cape was backed into favouritism on his return from a two-month break and went some way to justifying it. Though having held every chance as they entered the final furlong, he faded late on as if possibly just short of a run. Henry Candy's three-year-old remains one to keep on the right side, with further improvement likely.
Warpedsenseofhumour was more patiently ridden than he had been on his debut nearly fourth months previously and lacked pace once asked for his effort. Nevertheless, he stuck to his task and ran at least as well, seeming effective at this slightly longer trip, although he's not sure to stay any further on pedigree.
