Captain Cess is yet to win a race, but he was campaigned as a miler last year and it looks as though shorter trips might bring out the best in him.
That's certainly what his reappearance run at Chepstow last month over six furlongs would suggest as he ran his best race in going down by a short head.
That was also his final start for Adrian Wintle before joining Declan Carroll, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see Captain Cess, who heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, make a winning start for his new yard.

Blufferonthebus won three times for Craig Lidster last season, including over today's course and distance which was her second success at Carlisle.
She has also been placed several times at the track and ran another good race there a week ago when keeping on to go down by half a length to Ravishing Beauty in another fillies' handicap.
That followed a good third at Catterick the time before and, back down to her last winning mark, Blufferonthebus heads the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings and looks handicapped to register another course win.

'Hot Trainer' William Haggas no doubt has bigger fish to fry at Ascot in the coming days but can get the week off to a good start with Another Abbot, one of just two runners he's sending to Windsor on Monday night.
Successful twice last summer, Another Abbot confirmed the promise of his Ascot reappearance when better than ever at Yarmouth last time in pulling clear of the rest to beat Neyva's Angel by a head.
The runner-up paid Another Abbot a compliment when winning by a wide margin back at Yarmouth last week and, topping the Timeform weight-adjusted ratings, he is taken to follow up.
