Timeform reflect on a race that contained a number of promising types...

Tom Dascombe's Classic Colori showed a good turn-of-foot on debut to come home a comfortable winner, having been well-backed. He looked a useful prospect for a yard which continues to excel with its two-year-olds, and is held in the highest regard by Dascombe, who described the colt as probably his best two-year-old. Having already sent out useful two-year-olds Orpen Grey and Don't Tell Mary, that is some statement, and this performance was fairly useful in its own right. With further improvement likely, especially when stepped up in trip judged by his pedigree, he looks a pattern performer in the making.

Godolphin's Al Ghazal has an excellent pedigree, and although having a long way to go to reach those lofty heights, he showed a degree of promise when finishing third. Having made good headway from rear, his effort petered out slightly near the line, typical of a debutant in need of the run. He looks open to improvement, and judging by pedigree, a step up in trip is likely to suit the son of Motivator.

The fourth home, Excellent Guest, had the benefit of experience but produced a highly encouraging performance, with the race not going to plan. Having travelled smoothly after a slow start, he got hampered a furlong out and put in a better performance than the bare form. With plenty of improvement likely, he is one to follow in the near future.

The fifth home Luminous Star also posted an encouraging display, showing signs of greenness, before keeping on to finish seven lengths behind the winner. Likely to do better next time, it would be no surprise to see him go close in a similar event.
