Timeform run the rule over the Paddock Package handicap...
Albaqaa made a promising return to action at Kempton last month and should go well under the conditions, but Hawaass remains open to improvement after just three starts and comes from a stable banging in the winners. Pevensey ideally needs further than this but he is at least match fit and could reach a place.
Pevensey is a useful handicapper on his day but has not won since Royal Ascot in 2007. He is on a fair mark at present but this trip is on the sharp side for him these days, even at a track like this.
Lake Poet is better on turf than on the all-weather and it's probably best not to read too much into latest disappointing run at Kempton. This is more suitable, but he up against some interesting contenders here.
Ladies Best is an ungenuine performer who hasn't won since 2006. He has dropped a long way in the weights but was well held on his sole start for his present stable.
Hawaass was a ready winner of a Newmarket handicap last summer but has not been seen since and has clearly had problems. That said, he remains open to improvement and looks one of the more interesting runners.
Albaqaa is an edgy sort but had a good 2008, winning three times. He ran a fine race on his reappearance and is entitled to be sharper here. He is a leading contender.
Jaser made a mockery of the mark he began his handicap career off and is on the same mark as when he was third in a valuable Haydock handicap last May. This trip and ground are no problem and he can go well fresh.
Mull of Dubai disappointed on his last two starts in 2008 but has plenty of form in competitive handicaps to his name and is not on a bad mark. Whether he will be fully wound up for this remains to be seen.
Jabal Tariq was a dual winner at Ripon last summer but struggled on his final two starts and is unproven on ground this firm.
