Aqlaam remains open to improvement and he can reverse Queen Anne placings with Cesare. Dream Eater may prove best of the rest.

Aqlaam won both starts last year, notably when very impressive in the Jersey Stakes. He was back to form here in the Queen Anne and has obvious claims if reproducing that here.

Bushman is a lightly-raced gelding. He hasn't had much go his way after a promising start to his career but still needs to step up to get involved in this sort of company.

Cesare is a multiple Ascot winner who made a cracking reappearance when second in the Queen Anne. He is a leading contender in this company.

Confront returned from an eight-month absence to land a valuable nine furlong Newmarket handicap and had excuses when second in a Group 3 at Epsom next time. He has been below par since though and a drop in trip is not ideal.

Dream Eater was third in the Jersey Stakes last season and has put in respectable efforts this time round. He seems to stay this far but is arguably best at seven furlongs.

Imbongi is a regular in top races in South Africa. He did enough in Dubai over the winter to think he was very useful and overcame weakness in the market to score at Newmarket last time.

Ordnance Row is a tough and reliable performer who won a listed event at Windsor in May. He put in a respectable effort last time but more is needed here.

Perks progressed well in 2008 when seeming to relish soft conditions, winning three times. He was well held upped in grade this year, though, and is flying too high here.

Without a Prayer developed into smart performer at three, culminating in a nine-and-a-half furlong listed race win in France. He got back to winning ways last time but this looks a bit more competitive.

This looks a good opportunity for Vertigo On Course, a fast-finishing third at Southwell last week. Young Dottie's success last month is working out well and she also makes appeal, while each-way players could do worse than side with Toolentidhaar....

Timeform Daily: Saturday, Wincanton, 13:20

Despite being the senior citizen of the party, Mister Nous retains plenty of ability, and having won five times in France appears ready to open his British account. The Rainbow Hunter could be more deadly now switched to handicaps and looks a big threat to the selection, with Strategic Plan rated third best....

Jim Tango is open to improvement over fences, and this looks to be Miss Pross' easiest task for some time, but the likeable Bamby gets the nod with conditions to suit back over fences....

Timeform Daily: Thursday, Southwell, 15:20

The two handicap debutants could be the ones to focus on here, with Ambrogina favoured more than Seamster. Knightfire will have to settle for a place again....
