Timeform talk us through the nuts and bolts of tomorrow's 3.50 at Wolverhampton.
Nine runners are declared for this tricky-looking event on the polytrack with a number of course and distance specialists among the line-up#.
Prince Noel: Better on all-weather and one of a few with good record over course and distance (one win and three seconds). Higher than ever in weights but capable apprentice takes off valuable 7 lb and looks likely to be thereabouts.
Ninth House: Four-time course and distance winner and now 5 lb lower than when last successful following spell of below-par efforts. Tongue tie back on today but leap of faith required on recent showings.
Avertis: Fairly useful form when successful first two starts but has looked shadow of that when tailed off on his last three outings; said to have had breathing problem on latest. Whether application of tongue tie this afternoon will get him back on track remains to be seen and he's best watched for now.
Elliwan: Steadily progressive in maidens for Mark Johnston but allotted a stiff mark for handicaps and well beaten all starts for new connections. Looked hard ride last time and best left alone for now.
Hawaana: Falling in weights all the time and showed he's ready to take advantage when second to similarly well-handicapped Mister Ross at Lingfield last time. Winner has followed up since and leading contender if handling the surface.
Pitbull: Losing run goes back over a year but overall consistency means he's not getting any leeway from handicapper. Tendency to start slowly remains a burden and chance he's not as good on polytrack; oppose.
Climate: Four-time course and distance winner and 9 lb higher now than when last successful in handicap. Has tended to need the run on back of a break in the past and probably best watched unless market indicates otherwise.
Aussie Blue: Easily best effort this year when winning off this mark at Pontefract in July and although disappointing since took step back in right direction when third at Southwell last time. Has to prove himself just as effective on polytrack but not without a chance if doing so.
Stark Contrast: Did well on all-weather last winter but hasn't gone on from encouraging reappearance in August and looks up against it from out of the weights.

This looks a good opportunity for Vertigo On Course, a fast-finishing third at Southwell last week. Young Dottie's success last month is working out well and she also makes appeal, while each-way players could do worse than side with Toolentidhaar....

Despite being the senior citizen of the party, Mister Nous retains plenty of ability, and having won five times in France appears ready to open his British account. The Rainbow Hunter could be more deadly now switched to handicaps and looks a big threat to the selection, with Strategic Plan rated third best....

Jim Tango is open to improvement over fences, and this looks to be Miss Pross' easiest task for some time, but the likeable Bamby gets the nod with conditions to suit back over fences....

The two handicap debutants could be the ones to focus on here, with Ambrogina favoured more than Seamster. Knightfire will have to settle for a place again....
