Carl Harris has strong feelings about a monster of a horse running at Epsom
"Without any extra weight and the excellent Catherine Gannon on board I think we could see a very easy win again. A very good bet is advised on Ogre today at Epsom."
It was announced that Johnny Murtagh will ride Age of Aquariusn the St Leger on Saturday, a move which has helped to make the ballydoyle horse favourite for the last Classic of the summer. It promises to be a decent race again in 2009 and I am delighted that the status of the Leger has risen in recent years. Conduit who won in 2008 has proved to be a very worthy winner. We can look forward to the world's oldest classic at Doncaster on Saturday.
This is the year of the Oxx, certainly trainer John has been blessed with Sea The Stars but he has plenty of other decent horses in his yard. Tanoura (3.45) has a chance to step out of the stable star's shadow to land this group two at Doncaster. The Yorkshire Oaks winner is back in the county but is trying this trip for the first time. Her performance at York suggests that it should not be a problem and she has outstanding claims. Clowance is unlikely to run given the ground, so Tanoura looks a solid proposition here.
Ogre (4.30) is my best bet of the day. The David Evans-trained filly bolted up in an apprentice handicap here last week and therefore has no penalty to carry. The drop back to 7f won't be a problem, having recently won over course and distance. Without any extra weight and the excellent Catherine Gannon on board I think we could see a very easy win again. A very good bet is advised on Ogre today at Epsom.
