Bet of the day: Thirsk, 14:40 - Back Mrs Trump E/W @ 9/110.00

Course-and-distance winner Mrs Trump won this contest 12 months ago from a 2lb higher mark, and could successfully defend her title from a workable rating. She hasn't been at her best so far this year but dropped 7lb as a result and returns over 6f here.

The six-year-old mare has been able to bounce back from a below par run of form in the past and has been competitive from a higher mark. Her last win came from a 5lb higher rating, therefore she makes appeal at the weights if returning to form in familiar surroundings.

Thirsk, 16:10 - Back American Style E/W @ 16/117.00

Four-year-old gelding American Style is 5lb higher than his last win, but is rated lower than when second in a higher class competitive Newmarket handicap on the July Course last summer. He makes appeal at the weights but must improve on his latest couple of efforts and return to the form shown on reappearance at Ripon.

In his first start this season, the son of Washington DC was only narrowly denied at odds of 8/19.00 when eventually finishing third to Kodiac Thriller in a close finish. He's 2lb lower rated than when placed that day, and, although unable to build on the outing, could be worth keeping the faith in.

A talented performer on his day, Kevin Ryan's representative is one to note, holding each-way claims under Shane Gray at a track where he has run well previously.

Fairyhouse, 17:40 - Back Hero Of The Hour E/W @ 20/121.00

From a mark of 48 with 7lb claiming Sadhbh Tormey in the saddle, experienced gelding Hero Of The Hour makes each-way appeal in his 60th career start. He was far from disgraced at Naas when last seen, despite finishing down the field, and finished fourth at Fairyhouse in his penultimate start when sent off at odds of 18/119.00.

The William Delahunty-trained contender is currently 3lb below his last winning mark, putting him in with an each-way chance at the weights. He was only narrowly denied on the all-weather over the winter, beaten a neck by Hasiyna in December, and shaped well on the artificial surface earlier this year too.

Having proven he still retains ability and on a workable mark currently, Hero Of The Hour could be worth keeping the faith in as he bids for an eighth career win.

Fairyhouse, 18:45 - Back Hasita E/W @ 9/25.50

Handicap debutante Hasita is an interesting contender for Johnny Murtagh in this 7f contest. She made her debut in a maiden won by Balantina last term, before featuring in Composing's maiden success at the Curragh.

This term, she has placed third twice at Cork and Down Royal respectively, shaping with some potential. She may find more luck down the handicap route and, from an opening mark of 72, could make the frame once again under Ben Coen.

The daughter of Starspangledbanner is out of a mile-winning Shamardal mare in Hasimiyya, who has already produced two winners, and is out of Group Three-placed middle-distance performer Haziyna, a half-sister to dual Derby winner Harzand.

With class in the pedigree, there could be plenty of further improvement to come from Hasita in only her fifth career start. She has been learning with experience and could be suited by this new challenge.
