The race that follows immediately after the Gold Cup, the 'Foxhunters' is run over the same course and distance as the 'Blue Riband' event and in its own right is a solid betting heat in which the British and Irish punters clash head on in support of their favourite hunters.

The race has a mixed betting record for the betting public - two favourites in the last five years having obliged and landed a string of significant bets, whilst the other three winners during the same period have averaged odds of 18/1.

Champion trainer Paul Nicholls has triumphed in two of the last four renewals and is always a man worth noting when considering a bet on the event, whilst the relative merits of the amateur riders on show are also significant factors, as a good rider such as JT McNamara or Colelman Sweeney can make a bet on a long-odds outsider more than a passing hope.

It is also worth noting any significant moves in the ante-post odds market as this race is often the long-range target of attempted betting coups on both sides of the Irish Sea.
