On the eve of the Grand National we have reached the crucial semi-final stage in our Grand National World Cup where the form has been assessed by the XY Factor computer.

Four are about to become two with the winner announced tomorrow morning ahead of the 'real' race.

Here's how the semi-final matches panned out:

Brooklyn Brownie 2 Parsons Legacy 0

Brooklyn Brownie is twice the odds of Parsons Legacy but has upset the odds to cruise through to the final with a 2-0 success. There was plenty to like about Brooklyn Brownie's performance over the big fences at Aintree back in November when he was runner-up to Endless Power in the Grand Sefton Chase. He has progressed well since then and the lack of a recent run combined with concern over his previous start when pulled up at Cheltenham is counting against Parsons Legacy.

Cloudy Lane 2 State of Play 3

As we have already discussed in the earlier rounds Cloudy Lane has the vital Aintree experience and shaped well last year when sixth to Comply Or Die. He was sent off joint favourite that day and was 30+ lengths adrift at the line. He could well find one or two too good again under top weight. He represents the legendary Aintree McCain stable and is passed over in this match in favour of State of Play who is a class horse on a potentially lenient weight. It's been great to see him back in form this season and State Of Play goes into the final.
