Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls are a professional basketball team based in Chicago, Illinois, playing in the Central Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association. The team was founded on January 26th, 1966. The Bulls are the third NBA franchise from Chicago, following on from the Packers-Zephyrs (now the Washington Wizards) and the Stags.

The Bulls play their home games at the United Centre. The franchise is best known for having one of the NBA's greatest legacies during the 1990s, winning six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998, including an NBA record 72 game winning season during the 1995-1996 season. This team was led by coach Phil Jackson and included the likes of Hall of Famers Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

Bulls founder Dick Klein was the Bulls' only owner ever to play professional basketball, serving as the franchise's president and general manager in their early years. Klein selected Johnny "Red" Kerr and Al Bianchi to serve as the Bulls' head coach and assistant coach, respectively, signing Guy Rodgers, Jerry Sloan, Len Chappell, Jim Washington, Erwin Mueller, Don Kojis, and Bob Boozer to form the spine of the Bulls' first squads.

The team started in the 1966-1967 NBA season, and posted the best record by a new franchise in NBA history, finishing their debut season with a losing 33-48 record, but still managing to reach the postseason. This was the first time any expansion franchise reached the playoffs in their first year, a feat that has not been repeated by any other team since.

Michael Jordan remains the Bulls' most successful player in their history, going on to establish himself as the world's greatest ever basketball player and bringing the Chicago Bulls to the world's attention. Jordan won six NBA Championships and was named MVP on each occasion during his two spells with the Bulls. The five-time NBA MVP was drafted by the Bulls in the first round of the 1984 Draft, ending his time with the franchise after playing a huge part in creating one of the NBA's most dominant eras by one team.

Tom Thibodeau has been the Bulls head coach since 2010, winning the 2011 NBA Coach of the Year Award in his first season in the job, tying the record for most wins by a rookie head coach with 62, and leading the Bulls to their first 50-win season and first division title since the Michael Jordan team of the 90s.
