Back Bertie to gain Taunton compensation

Track and ground look ideal for Tizzard chaser

Drop in class should suit Dunstall Park selection
The presence of chasing debutant Dyno Dave casts a shadow over this handicap as Nicky Henderson's lightly-raced seven-year-old starts his new vocation off a mark of 105 following three sighters over hurdles in a two-month period in the spring.
His placement in this race and his campaigning to date is very unlike Seven Barrows, while he also held two alternative entries this week in conditional jockeys' handicaps which suggests his trainer is keen to strike while the iron is hot.
It will be fascinating to see how he copes with this switch in job, especially around a speed track like Taunton on good ground which will put his technique under pressure, even over three miles.
Bertie Wooster is no stranger to the west country venue and has finished runner-up on his last two visits there over fences, beaten a neck by Wicked Thoughts on his penultimate start and well held by the unexposed Kap Vert over course and distance earlier this month.
The latter ran a solid race in defeat off his new mark at Kempton over the festive period and Bertie Wooster's effectiveness on track and ground could serve him well here.
Back Bertie Wooster each-way
A sizeable drop in grade can see Wilhelmina shed her all-weather maiden tag in this fillies' handicap.
The daughter of New Bay ran with tremendous credit in the Winter Oaks Trial at Lingfield on her latest start, especially as she was largely unconsidered in the market and challenged in the straight on the inside rail.
That isn't necessarily the quickest part of the track at the Surrey venue but the selection still closed on the main protagonists, only for the well-backed 98-rated Morrophore to sweep down the outside and lift the prize under a typically brilliant Ryan Moore ride.
In contrast to that Class 2 affair, Wilhelmina shoulders top weight in this 0-75 event and, with her effectiveness at Dunstall Park already confirmed, she ought to be on the scene with the assessor even dropping her a pound for that fine Lingfield display.
