Sam Turner has two tips for Thursday

Betfair tipster Sam Turner sifts through the racing on Thursday and finds bets at Taunton and Chelmsford...

  • Take Engine to motor home at Chelmsford

  • Him Malaya can reach his peak at favoured venue

  • Prospect of strong gallop can play to selection's run style

Taunton, 15.00 - Back Him Malaya each-way @ 6/17.00

Hopefully, jump racing makes a return on Thursday if the recent cold snap relents and track regular Him Malaya appears to have a solid chance of claiming this Class 3 affair.

This event sees a re-run of last month's handicap won by a resurgent Celtic Art who cosily picked off the front-running American Sniper after the last to score tidily.

Him Malaya did what Him Malaya does and stayed on well enough from an uncompromising track position, while fluffing the last didn't help him finish any closer to the main protagonists.

There looks even more pace in this contest with Zhang Fei and the selection's stablemate Brave Knight possible pace angles, while Benvoy made al the running to score at Huntingdon last time.

If there is a pace collapse, Him Malaya could be the one to benefit and if bookmakers allow us to back him each-way, he should be supported to improve track stats which read: 313434.

Chelmsford, 18.30 - Back Analytical Engine @ 5/23.50

Tis the season of 0-55s and below as the lower-rated all-weather participants have the opportunity to take advantage of a plethora of basement level contests.

The third race on Chelmsford's card features one or two horses that look capable of breaking out of this grade, not least Analytical Engine who was probably unfortunate to bump into a well-handicapped rival in Magna at Kempton.

Tony Carroll's progressive three-year-old has since supplemented that defeat of my fancy with a narrow success at Southwell on Sunday so the form, for the grade, is beginning to stack up, especially as Magna's victim at Southwell, Secret Road, won comfortably at Wolverhampton on Tuesday afternoon.

Dion Baker has slid a number of grades since the summer and is without a win since August 2024, but he is dangerously well treated on his return to six furlongs and would be a threat if the market was positive about his chance.

However, Analytical Engine improved markedly at Kempton from her Chelmsford return back in November and if there are no unexposed three-year-olds to deal with here.
