Ffos Las, 17.10 - Back Yokkell @ 5/23.50

It has been a while since Adrian Wintle has featured on these pages and that is more a failing of mine than the Gloucestershire-based handler who continues to punch above his weight.

Wintle consistently over achieves with lower-grade horses and it is a surprise, given his record in recent years, that he isn't sent a better class of animal than many of the Class 5 and Class 6 ammunition he has at his disposal.

During the last fortnight, Wintle has sent out a dozen horses; two of which have won at 5/16.00 and 16/117.00 with the form figures accrued reading a highly respectable 030142252015.

Yokkell represents the stable in this finale and there look solid reasons for believing the seven-year-old ought to be competitive now that she returns to ten furlongs, especially as she was tapped for toe when the pace quickened over the mile at Leicester last time.

After a series of lacklustre efforts, the selection's last two starts at Leicester have indicated she is more than capable of scoring off 62 and she has the opportunity to prove the theory in this winnable contest.

Newbury, 20.35 - Back Yokohama each-way @ 7/24.50

The prospect of racing on a faster surface might see Yokohama regain the winning thread in this finale.

It looked as though the five-year-old's wheels were spinning at Yarmouth on easy ground, but he still ran creditably and returns to a sounder terrain at a track where he has already excelled this season.

The selection's hard fought success at the Berkshire venue last month has already been boosted by victory for third-home Amancio and, although this slight drop in trip won't necessarily be a huge positive given that he stays well, he looks an uncomplicated ride who should relish another positive ride.

Young Mason Paetel has found winners harder to come by this season, but he has managed to boot home a couple of success in recent days and looks to have a sound chance of adding to this gains here.
