First the disclaimer; there is every chance that, at the age of 11, Stoner's Choice has completely gone at the game, while his hurdling can also leave something to be desired.

Spin through the veteran's recent performances and you would be fully entitled to take that view.

However, dig a touch deeper and there is a case to be made for thinking the selection may bounce back to some form and make an impact on this Class 4 affair.

Firstly, Stoner's Choice has always appeared happier going right-handed as he has often exhibited a habit of edging and jumping right when tackling tightish left-handed courses.

A Warwick bumper success is his sole win from six starts left handed, five of which have come in his half-a-dozen outings this season, most have which have contributed to his mark plummeting from 131 to 118.

Despite his pronounced preference (career record right-handed a healthy 6-25), Stoner's Choice has still posted a couple of reasonable efforts this winter - especially in a Haydock event which has worked out extremely well - and he drops below Class 3 company for the first time in a while today.

Significantly, his record at today's level and below is four wins from six starts, while in a higher grade his figures are a less than profitable 3-26.

He should also appreciate the return to this trip with his figures around today's distance reading 23512122 so with a 62-break to refresh, his preferred good ground on offer and the talented Fern O'Brien claiming 5lb, Stoner's Choice could spring to life here.
