The first three home from last year's running of this 0-100 handicap renew rivalries 12 months on and a case can be made for each contender winning the latest renewal.
There is also a compelling case to be made for Warrant Holder who sports a tongue tie for the first time on his reappearance for a powerful stable following a gelding operation.
Well found in the market already, I did wonder, given the four-year-old's ownership, whether the Royal meeting next month might be more of a target for the son of Frankel, whereas Thunder Run, Tony Montana and Have Secret are possibly more likely to have had this event as their primary early-season aim given their history with the race.
Reluctantly, three must become two for the purposes of tipping and Thunder Run is overlooked as he has struggled to recapture the level of his win here 12 months ago and has only beaten one rival (from 31) in his last three starts.
Tony Montana traditionally needs his first run back, but he has proved a potent force in the month of May, winning two of his five starts and finishing second or third on the other three.
The selection made a highly satisfactory start to life with his new handler following a switch from Michael Bell when sixth in the OLBG Spring Cup at Newbury, a race which has already produced big performances from the likes of Whip Cracker, Back In Black and Fifth Column.
Today's step back up in trip should suit and trainer Kevin Philippart De Foy has his string in great order so the Kingmen gelding looks a fair bet to go one better in this year's renewal.

Remarkably, given his connections and reguar trips to the Knavesmire, Have Secret has yet to win at York, but he has run a series of fine races in defeat at today's venue and should again be on the scene following an impressive Pontefract success last time.
The handicapper rated that as the six-year-old's best performance on his 37th start which seems unlikely, but maybe a spin over hurdles at Catterick in January has reminded the selection that the flat game isn't so bad after all!
Billy Garritty boasts a good synchronicity aboard the selection and, with five places on offer, he looks a decent each-way play given he will be ridden fairly close to the likely pace set by Empire Of Light and Altareq who will need to get out and away from their wide berths to have any chance.

The Yorkshire Cup has been dominated by the more experienced stayers in recent seasons with the likes of Rebel's Romance (7yo), Stradivarius (8yo) and Clever Cookie (8yo) all successful since 2016.
However, a quartet of four-year-olds offer this year's renewal a fresher appearance and the ante-post market has centred on Amiloc and Rahiebb who respectively have just eight racecourse appearances each.
The former represents a yard which is beginning to fire following a steady start with their three-year-olds and older horses in contrast to their juveniles which have hit the ground running.
Amiloc has been strongly backed in the ante-post markets for this event and understandably so given he wound up his three-year-old season running a blinder in the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar behind Ethical Diamond.
Previously second in an Irish St. Leger, Ralph Beckett's son of Postponed looks booked for another big season, but the same comment could also apply to Rahiebb who boasted the quality to finish third in a Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot before finishing runner-up to Scandinavia in the St Leger at Doncaster, a race which is already working out well.
Admittedly, the selection has only won once in his career, but he was very much a slow starter who packed a lot of learning and education into a short space of time last season and he could well be more the finished article this term.
