Warwick, 14.30 - Back Lipa K @ 7/24.50

The training operation of Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero were awarded a belated Aintree success with Melon recently and Lipa K could supplement that success in this Class 3 affair.

The son of Mamool hasn't been seen since last October when he chased home Ernest Gray on Merseyside and that handicap has worked out tidily since with Lihyan, Kikijo, Pounding Poet and Heather Honey in third, fourth, fifth and sixth all distinguishing themselves to varying degrees of success subsequently.

Lipa K didn't enjoy the best of passages through that day after travelling smoothly from off the pace and he strikes me as a horse which that appreciates a strong gallop and a pace collapse late on.

That scenario could present itself here with confirmed trail-blazer Thank You Ma'am in opposition alongside Step Ahead, while J J Moon could also find the first-time cheekpieces igniting his enthusiasm.

Hopefully, Lipa K is straight enough to do himself justice following a lengthy break, but he has won after a 119-day absence previously so with his yard in decent nick he looks worth chancing back at a track where he's already been successful.

Perth, 15.40 - Back Statuario @ 9/43.25

There is always a chance that time may be catching up with Statuario at the age of eleven but, in the hope he still has something to give in his advanced years, he could be worth chancing in this handicap returning to the track following a 132-day absence.

The selection has won after a 206-day break previously, while he has so been beaten a neck and a nose following absences of 184 and 176-days respectively so fitness ought not to be an issue and Micky Bowen appears to have targeted a number of horses at this meeting.

In a column earlier this week, I suggested the stable might be in better form in April than the preceding three months and 16/1 chance Lermoos Legend went well at Ffos Las on Tuesday after a 189-day spell away from the track so Statuario could be worth supporting to build on impressive track figures which read 114115211.

Bowen's veteran must go right-handed (6-20 that way as opposed to 1-20 left handed) and today's course and distance on good ground have produced career numbers of 115211 so he looks worth supporting to uphold those stats.
