Betfair tipster Sam Turner analyses a terrific afternoon of Boxing Day racing and has selections at Market Rasen and Wincanton...

Market Rasen, 14.57 - Back The Big Breac @ 11/43.75

The staying chase run at Newcastle at the end of last month has already thrown up a smart winner in Zertakt who bounced out of a fine run in the north east to score at Cheltenham.

The Big Breac was third that day, five lengths adrift of winner Dom Of Mary who has more than a puncher's chance to securing Welsh National glory at Chepstow on Saturday.

Given that most of the Joel Parkinson and Sue Smith staying chasers have enjoyed an excellent season to date, the eight-year-old makes plenty of appeal here off a mark of just 104 which remained untouched from his last run.

Victory for Grande Geste in the Tommy Whittle at Haydock last weekend served notice the selection's stable are still going great guns and The Big Breac and O'Connell in the Welsh version could make it a Christmas to remember for the Yorkshire operation.

Wincanton, 15.13 - Back El Capitaine each-way @ 14/115.00

It can be tricky betting in Pertemps qualifiers for many of the reasons we have seen advertised this season.

Those that have already qualified are keen to protect their mark, while horses who have already got a high enough rating to ensure qualification are also intent on preserving what could be viewed as an ideal mark to exploit.

In the circumstances, it often pays to take a chance with a horse that has an outside chance of making the main day and El Capitaine could fit that criteria, although victory here when 4lb out of the handicap could see a significant leap in the handicap.

Since the start of October, trainer Kayley Woollacott has excelled with her select string, sending out six winners from just 28 runners and her converted pointer should relish the step up to three miles here.

I was taken with his performance in a warm Cheltenham handicap at the November meeting where he did best of those that raced around the inner part of the track and the booking of Brendan Powell really catches the eye.
