Sandown, 15.00 - Back Silenciosa each-way @ 17/29.50

The 1,000 Guineas was largely a non event for Silenciosa who got warm beforehand and, as a result, raced too keenly in the early stages in the pack situated on the far side - a group which also included subsequent top-level winners Precise and Venetian Sun.

That the selection was only beaten eight lengths was a result of her inherent quality and she could be a tidy price to build on the promise of her run in the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury in the spring when she endured a troubled passage and only got going late.

That race has also thrown up winners and Silenciosa could be worth risking here returned to seven furlongs at a lower level for a stable which has been among the winners of late.

Sandown, 15.35 - Back Saddaad @ 13/27.50

There is little doubt connections of Saddaad would welcome a shower or two, but their imposing four-year-old coped well with fast ground in Ireland last time and could be a spot of value to spring a mini surprise in this marquee event.

There have been more column inches written about Constitution River than Thomas Tuchel's starting eleven this year and, in fairness to the Prix du Jockey Club winner, he has largely justified the hype, albeit he was more workmanlike than brilliant in France last time.

The race set up for him beautifully that day plus he was the recipient of yet another masterful Ryan Moore ride so, at his rather cramped odds faced with one or two seasoned older horses with excellent course form, I would be happy to let him run and possibly win.

Typically, his handler has allowed a couple of foot soldiers to accompany the warm ante-post favourite, albeit Hawk Mountain is talented in his own right and arguably deserves his place in the field.

But in the hope the race is allowed to be run at a genuine gallop then Saddaad is fancied to take another sizeable step forward and build on his fine run in Group 1 company at the Curragh last time.

I can't believe that clerk of the course Andrew Cooper will allow the ground to be any quicker than it was in Ireland last time and the selection was arguably compromised by his track position in the Tattersalls Gold Cup.

He finished off better than most that day, closing in on subsequent Coronation Cup winner Bay City Roller, while Minnie Hawk, placed behind Ombudsman at Royal Ascot, was left trailing in his wake.

Ray Dawson can probably ride the race he wants from stall five and Saddaad looks a shade overpriced given he enjoys Sandown and has been targeted at this event for some time.

Sandown, 16.10 - Back Spirit Of Saxony @ SP

Charlie Bishop wasn't at his finest aboard Spirit Of Saxony last time and the son of Saxon Warrior is worthy of the opportunity to gain compensation here.

In fairness to Bishop, he was probably beaten by a smart one in Sticktoyourguns over course and distance, however it might have been a different result if the selection had managed to extricate himself from a pocket at a crucial time and launched his challenge a little earlier.

This race looks a good bit weaker than the one he contested last time so Spirit Of Saxony is taken to regain the winning thread under conditions which suit him well.
