"This will be the quickest ground he has raced on, but I see no reason why it should be a problem. We will see soon enough, though."

15:40 - Bay Bridge

Ryan Moore has a strong book of six rides on the second day of Royal Ascot, including favourite Bay Bridge in the Prince of Wales's Stakes...

Looked good in recent win

14:30 - One More Olly

I wasn't on board when she won on her debut at Chelmsford, and I didn't ride in the race either, so I have no first-hand feedback on her. But, looking at the contest, she travelled very kindly there and won nicely against a filly who has shown decent form first time up at Sandown. This is obviously a different test altogether but she looked good at Chelmsford.

Should enjoy the trip and go well

15:05 - Anchorage

He probably needs to step up here a bit form-wise - although maybe not by that much - but I liked the way he shaped for me on his return at the Curragh. He took a while to get going there but he finished off his race well over 1m2f and the Galileo colt should be suited by this trip, for all it is a big jump up to 1m6f. I can definitely see him going well.

Capable of winning if he raises his game

15:40 - Bay Bridge

This is probably a tougher task for him than the betting suggests, but you have to be going into this race full of hope after what he did at Sandown.

Don't get me wrong, he will have to raise his game again as he meets genuine Group 1 opposition here - they have all won in the highest grade - and the Japanese Derby and Sheema Classic winner Shahryar in particular could prove to be a fair stumbling block. But we all saw what my horse did at Sandown, and you'd hope there is more to come from him given his profile, which is possibly not the case with the others.

This will be the quickest ground he has raced on, but I see no reason why it should be a problem. We will see soon enough, though.

As good a claim as any

16:20 - Mother Earth

She obviously didn't run up to her best in the Lockinge last time but, back in class against her own sex, and without a penalty, I'd say she has as good a claim as any in here. It is a very competitive race though, with very little between most of these.

She ran an excellent third in the Coronation Stakes here last season, and again when fifth from off the pace in the QEII, so she likes the track and her Guineas win came on quick ground. She looks pretty solid to me, and hopefully the first-time cheekpieces will help her too, but it is easy to make a case for a few.

Likes a big field and has his chance in this one

17:00 - Astro King

We were rather unfortunate to bump into a Real World rated just 94 when second in this race last season, and my horse will always be vulnerable to an unexposed handicapper, as we pretty much know that his current mark is what he is. But we know races like these big-field handicaps suit him, the trip, track and ground are all fine, and he shaped well on his return at Thirsk. He certainly has his chance.

Quick, sharp and in with a shot

17:35 - Little Big Bear

He had a few options here this week, but this looks a good spot for him. He was a little unlucky not to beat Tough Talk first time up in what was a very good maiden, and you had to be impressed by the way in which he got the job done when stepped back to 5f at Naas last time. I wasn't on board when he won that day but he is a very quick and sharp sort, so he comes here in with a very fair chance.
