Ryan McCue reviews Friday's Roya Ascot action

"The most impressive winner so far today came in the Duke of Edinburgh when Candleford routed his opposition for Tom Marquand."

It's our final Royal Ascot Traders View special of the week, and Ryan McCue has his say on Friday's racing on what has been a scorching hot day, as well as providing his Saturday Ascot NAP...

It appeared to be a bad day for us today?

We'd have preferred Mawj winning the opener to be honest with you, so it was a bad start for us with Meditate running out an impressive winner. I think the second horse and favourite, Mawj, may well step up in trip on her next start as she was off the bridle very early.

The 15:05 was again another losing race for us in the second with Perfect Power landing the Commonwealth Cup. He was solid all morning on both the exchange and sportsbook and was a cosy winner in the end. We paid 4 places in that and so the 3rd and 4th were big prices.

The most impressive winner so far today came in the Duke of Edinburgh when Candleford routed his opposition for Tom Marquand.

We sat under the general market at 11/2 most of the day on this so in the end in was a good result for us and our first winning race of the day!

Just how good was Inspiral this afternoon?

Frankie's winner eventually came on Inspiral who bolted up on her first start of the season in the Coronation Stakes, resulting in a really bad result for us as you can imagine given, she finished up at 15/8 having been 11/4 most of the morning.

One of our Betfair Oddsboosts was Changingoftheguard in the 17:35 and plenty of customers backed him at 15/8, so they'll be more than pleased he can did the business and bounced back quickly from his Derby run less than two weeks ago.

Let's sign off with your Saturday NAP, please!

An open looking handicap but Honition in the 17:35 looks a bit of value to me at around 7/1 for Frankie and John Gosden. All his form is working out extremely well and he looks to have improved since he stepped up to 1m2f. A mark of 94 may underestimate him slightly and I think he'll run a big race.
