Bombay to step up from Beverley
Royal Ascot - 15:05 - Back Tarrabb
The 15:05 Kensington Palace Fillies' Handicap is one of the Extra Place Special races on the Sportsbook and Tarrabb has gone well at Ascot in the past with a win and second thus far.
Indeed, from last season she finished third behind Crystal Caprice in a fillies' handicap, although it was steadily run on that occasion and she is the sort of filly that needs a truer test.
She was much better at Haydock when winning as she cruised through the race, notably against a stronger gallop.
The drying ground is very much in her favour and considering she can be keen, the recent comeback at Chelmsford should be a race she can step up from with her rating of 91.
Royal Ascot - 17:35 - Back Saint George
Andrew Balding was denied a winner yesterday with Chaldean's second, but Saint George looks a strong staying candidate for the Queen's Vase later in the afternoon.
He won a Doncaster handicap last time over 1m6f, but that is often a decent race and the time was a good one and he clocked 11.01 with a sectional towards the end of the race, reeling in the front-running Struth.
Saint George looks a strong stamina horse, and probably would have loved the old trip for this race.
The 3yo has got better every time he's stepped up in distance and accounted for Sweet William on the AW at Southwell. Decent ground and a test can hopefully get us in the each-way frame.
Royal Ascot - 18:10 - Back Bombay Bazaar
I am hoping Bombay Bazaar proves more than a social runner, on a day where there's a 46-rated animal running on the card.
One of my old favourite horses Vhujon ran in the Windsor Castle many years ago, and we have got the Extra Place on offer with the Sportsbook at 12/113.00 here.
The 2yo clearly needs to improve from a couple of victories at Beverley, though.
His latest Westwood victory was in the 2yo Trophy on Hilary Needler day, and he has form on both good to firm and soft.
I like the way he finished off his race in Yorkshire last time, proving very strong in the finish and the stiff track will suit him.
His trainer Richard Fahey said after Beverley: "It didn't look like a bad race on paper and it was a good, solid performance. Bombay Bazaar is getting better."
