It's day two at Royal Ascot and we've got every betting angle covered

"He will love the ground, he has course/race form and his price is clearly the clincher. He is 33/1 with the Sportsbook, but he looks a win-only play on the exchange to me at 46.045/1 or bigger."

We've compiled the pick of our writers' best bets from our Wednesday columns, to take you through the card on day two of Royal Ascot...

Kevin Blake: Back Anchorage to put down marker

Queens Vase, 15:05

"The one that makes most appeal is the Aidan O'Brien-trained Anchorage. O'Brien has built a tremendous winning record in this race over the years and the fact he relies on this son of Galileo from a multitude of entries is fascinating.

"The three-year-old acquired plenty of experience as a two-year-old and, while that may make him look exposed to some, he has long been shaping like a stayer in the making. As well as that, there was substantial promise in his seasonal reappearance in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh."

Back Anchorage each-way @ 7.513/2

Ryan Moore: Full of hope for Bay Bridge in Prince of Wales's Stakes

Prince of Wales' Stakes, 15:40

"This is probably a tougher task for him than the betting suggests, but you have to be going into this race full of hope after what he did at Sandown.

Don't get me wrong, he will have to raise his game again as he meets genuine Group 1 opposition here - they have all won in the highest grade - and the Japanese Derby and Sheema Classic winner Shahryar in particular could prove to be a fair stumbling block. But we all saw what my horse did at Sandown, and you'd hope there is more to come from him given his profile, which is possibly not the case with the others.

"This will be the quickest ground he has raced on, but I see no reason why it should be a problem. We will see soon enough, though."

Back Bay Bridge @ 2.427/5

Mark Milligan: Prince Of Wales's Stakes Preview

Prince of Wales' Stakes, 15:40

"Some may point to Bay Bridge's relative lack of experience at this level, and that he's taking on Group 1 foes for the first time, but that's not a big consideration for me viewed through the prism of ratings.

"It may not have been a Group 1 race but everything about his Sandown success told us that Bay Bridge is a genuine Group 1 performer.

"State Of Rest has been a real globetrotter for the Joseph O'Brien stable and one of this horses best traits appears to be his constitution.

"He's won in America, Australia and France in the last year or so and looked none the worse for those travails when finishing a close third to Alenquer and High Definition in the Tattersalls Gold Cup last time."

Back Bay Bridge/State Of Rest straight forecast @ 6.05/1

Daryl Carter: Now's the time for Bay Bridge to stamp his class

Prince of Wales' Stakes, 15:40

"Bay Bridge has been supported from 11/8 into 10/11 on the Betfair Sportsbook on the back of his excellent seasonal return when scoring in the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown.

"Today represents a big step up in grade, and he must face the fastest surface he has raced on, but there will be fewer better opportunities to land a grade one than this."

Back Bay Bridge @ 2.01/1

Patrick Weaver: Earth's downfall is on the cards

Duke Of Cambridge Stakes, 16:20

"It's not often I make an Aidan O'Brien Classic winner the lay of the day but I am opposing Mother Earth in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at 16:20.

"It's risky for sure, as she is unpenalised for her two Group 1 wins last year, whereas Saffron Beach has a 5lb penalty for hers. The reason is the cut-off point is August 31st and Mother Earth's wins in the 1,000 Guineas (by a length from Saffron Beach) and Prix Rothschild were before that, whereas Saffron Beach's Sun Chariot success (by three lengths from Mother Earth) came in October.

"At another track, I might think twice about taking on Mother Earth but she is 0-3 at Ascot and underperformed when only third in the Coronation Stakes 12 months ago - passing Novemba in the final 100 yards without getting to Alcohol Free or Snow Lantern."

Lay Mother Earth @ 4.03/1

Tony Calvin: What's The Story? Huge price in the Royal Hunt Cup

Royal Hunt Cup, 17:00

"What's The Story (Ascot, 17:00) is due to go down 3lb in future handicaps, which is not ideal, but he did finish fourth in this race on fast ground in 2018 and he has come down the weights for some solid efforts this season.

"He is actually very well handicapped on his 2021 form (was rated 9lb higher than this in May 2021), he will love the ground, he has that course/race form and his price is clearly the clincher. He is 33/1 with the Sportsbook, but he looks a win-only play on the exchange to me at 46.045/1 or bigger."

Alan Dudman: Expect an all blue day with Moonlight and Nahanni

Buckingham Palace Stakes, 18:10

"Twenty-two runners will do for the each-way angle again with the Extra Place Specials on offer for Wednesday, and White Moonlight looks the most interesting for the Kensington Palace Stakes Handicap to round off the day.

"Trainer Saeed bin Suroor had a big price winner yesterday on the opening afternoon and his horses have been in good nick for a while. So White Moonlight at 15/2 looks an attractive each-way play."

Back White Moonlight @ 8.515/2
