Threeunderthrufive can go very close in Badger Beers Chase
Paul Nicholls' on Badger Beers Chase day at Wincanton
We've done well at this Wincanton meeting in the past. We had five winners two years ago and a load last year. It's been a good card for us with good racing. We just hope the ground is ok this Saturday. I will check that it is suitable for all when we get there but for now I am very happy.
This is a lot less competitive than the race he ran in at Ascot seven days ago. Olive [Nicholls] is taking seven off. He could run well. I tried everything to get his head in front and just thought Olive might have a bit of a magic touch with him. He could run well. I can't see him beating Miss Altea Blue, if she runs, as she is in top form. The ground is very suitable for Fasol though. He'll love it.
I need to check the ground is suitable for her when I get to Wincanton. She had a wind-op in the summer which should help her. She probably wants two-and-a-half miles now. There is a nice mares' novices hurdle at the Coral Gold Cup meeting so the idea is to prep her here then go on to Newbury at the end of this month. Whatever she does at Wincanton, she will improve for Newbury.
Jena D'oudairies has got a lovely weight, 10 stone 2lb. She will love the ground here and will run whatever happens.

I would like to win this race as it is a Paul and Richard Barber Memorial. Paul and his brother Richard were so good to me. It is Jubilee Alpha's first time out with 12 stone, so she has plenty to do, but she is a great filly. Again, I want to make sure the ground is suitable for her. Hopefully she will progress.
I have won this race with a lot of very good horses - Silviniaco Conte, Knapper's Hill and Frodon - and some of those were beaten on their debut. I always think a horse needs a run before taking on this race. Blueking D'oroux was a bit green at Newton Abbot, took on an older horse, but this is his ground and his track and I think he will run very well.
He's going for the hat-trick in this race which I love and have won nine times. This year it has cut up a bit because of the ground. He loves decent ground like Kempton the other day. He loves a flat-track, right handed, so God willing he will jump well and run as well as normal. He beat the Champion Hurdle second the last time. He will be hard to beat here. I haven't got a plan for him, to be honest. He is probably best to go chasing.
I have won this race, the Badger Beers Chase, 11 times. Threeunderthrufive has a lot in his favour. He loves a small field, loves good ground and ran well in this race two years ago when he was second. He is a better horse now. Two of his runs last year, when he was just beaten at Ascot with 12 stone, were top drawer. If he reproduces that form, he will go very close.
Again, I will make sure the ground is suitable for him. But if he does run, whatever he does here, he will improve for the run. He's probably not a sharp bumper horse. He's a galloper and will want two-and-a-half miles over hurdles but he has got to start his season somewhere. It is all about the future for him rather than winning this bumper.
