Saturday

13.10 Ayr - Sans Bruit

He ran a cracker in the Red Rum, when going for a third win in a row in the race, and has been dropped a pound for that. A weight of 10st 2lbs is very attractive for him, as he isn't very big, and that's a proper weight. He ran a very, very good race at Aintree and it is hard to win any race three years in a row. He is in good shape, he hasn't had a lot of racing and he is fresh, so hopefully he will run well again.

14.20 Ayr - Scottish Champion Hurdle- Tutti Quanti

He has got 11st 12lbs, bottom weight is 10st 6lbs, so these are better conditions for him than the race he won at Newbury in February. The form of that race has turned out fantastically well and soft ground suits him. Why he behaved like he did at Cheltenham, when he finished eighth in the Champion Hurdle, I have no idea and hoping it was a one off. He could run very well.

15.35 Ayr - Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase- Isaac Des Obeaux

He has gone up seven pounds on his win at Uttoxeter, but I don't think that would have stopped him from winning that race. If we had lots of rain and it became very testing, he would have a big chance. He probably has a chance anyway. He had a hard race at Uttoxeter, but he seems to have come out of it well, but I just hope it is not too soon for him.

15.35 Ayr - Scottish Grand National Handicap Chase- Quebecois

He is probably on a tough mark now, but he seems to keep improving. The form from his race at Cheltenham has worked out well. I had a decision to make about him. He was in the novice handicap over three off the same mark, with 12 stone. It is not an easy mark for him. He could do with the ground drying out over the 48 hours in the run up to Saturday whereas Isaac Des Obeaux could do with the opposite. I don't think this is the hottest Scottish Grand National there has ever been.

On good ground, I would have no doubt that he would get the trip, but on this ground I don't know. Harry Cobden is adamant that has got loads of boot and can just keep travelling away. He is a half-brother to an Albert Bartlett winner, and he did get the trip at Cheltenham the other day.

16.50 Ayr - Le Cold Grey

I expect him to improve for some cut in the ground. He ran very well last time at Wincanton in a decent race, but this is a good bumper, there are some smart horses in it. I like Dan Skelton's Keops Des Bordes, I know he has been off for a while, but he was second to No Drama This End at Warwick last year and Gordon Elliott's Skerry Hill looks no mug, so it is a good contest.
