Obvious chance but won't run if ground dries out
12:45 - Gelino Bello
He was always going to be a chaser and made a very pleasing debut over fences at Wetherby a month ago when he made all the running, jumping soundly, and won comfortably. It was a nice school round for Gelino Bello who has come on for the run and won over hurdles at Newbury last season. He is a proper horse and has an obvious chance but he does need cut in the ground, so if it dries out at Newbury, which seems likely, I will keep him for a race at Exeter next Friday.
In top form and will enjoy the ground if he runs
12:45 - McFabulous
I've declared him just in case the ground dries up too much for Gelino Bello to run. In contrast McFabulous enjoys good ground and is in top form after his impressive success at Exeter 12 days ago.
In good shape and this is his main objective
13:20 - Kapcorse
He has had plenty of problems over the years but is talented when we can get him on the racecourse and rewarded the patience of his owner JP McManus by winning this race for the second time 12 months ago. It is again his main objective and he is in good shape after breezing round the track 11 days ago ridden by Sir Anthony McCoy who was very happy with him.
Poorly handicapped and I expect him to improve for the run
13:55 - Red Risk
He needed time off in the summer after he was struck into when finishing down the field at Haydock in May. His form was a bit in and out last season, mixing chasing and hurdling, and he is probably one of the worst handicapped horses in the yard. But he has to start somewhere and I expect him to improve for the race. Red Risk doesn't want quick ground so I will be checking conditions before letting him run.
Each-way chance on ground she'll enjoy
14:30 - Grivetana
She ran with promise when second at this track at the start of November and has improved tonnes since that outing. I then withdrew her at Kempton at the last minute on Monday because the ground turned soft. She will be much happier on the forecast good going at Newbury, has a lovely, light racing weight and looks to have a nice each-way chance.
This has been the long term plan and he has an obvious chance
15:05 - Threeunderthrufive
The Coral Gold Cup has been the long term plan for Threeunderthrufive who was a smart novice over fences last season and enjoyed a nice prep race over hurdles a month ago at Wetherby which blew away the cobwebs. More recently he had a handy little spin round Newbury track with Kapcorse. We are putting cheekpieces on Threeundertheufive to help sharpen up his jumping and he has worked pleasingly in them at home. He is a good, solid staying chaser with obvious claims each way.
Sole Bangor runner will need the outing
12:53 - Sir Psycho
He is another member of our Fat Boys Club who all came back into training at the start of July on their return from long term injury. He has loads of ability and is ready to start the next stage of his career in this novice handicap chase at Bangor. But as he hasn't run for over two years he is bound to need the run.
Best Chance:
Threeunderthrufive - 15:05 Newbury. "He has a solid each-way chance in a race where second season chasers have a great record."
