Course winner Ioupy Collonges wants rain
He is best fresh, loves good ground round a flat track and it's a plus that he can now run in these veterans races. He almost won a £100,000 handicap at Ascot first time out last year when he was only caught in the last half-furlong. That was a stiff enough course for him so I'm hoping Chepstow will suit him better. His first run is usually his best.
This is a tough race to pitch him in on his debut over hurdles but he is smart, was our leading bumper horse last season, finishing third in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham. It's encouraging that he won his Point-to-Point before joining us, he's done plenty of schooling and home and is a solid jumper at home.
He was a bit difficult to train last winter as he suffered from sore shins at times but this year he is more of a man. All of our runners on this card have done plenty of work and look fit. I'm very happy with his preparation.
He came to us six months ago after a decent career on the Flat in Germany and I'm a big fan of his sire Camelot. His four wins include two Listed races and he has done loads and loads of schooling, including once on grass the other day. He shapes like a very nice prospect .
He was progressive last season, winning three times including his maiden hurdle at this course before landing a handicap at Exeter. He shapes like a promising stayer and the more rain they get at Chepstow the more it will suit him.
Ioupy Collonges is a big horse and I haven't drilled home at home so I'd expect him to come on for the run. He looks to be on a fair handicap mark of 122 on his first start over fences and should give his owners plenty of fun.
She comes from the family of a smart hurdler Tourist Attraction and won a mares' Point-to-Point in March in Ireland. While it's hard to judge the value of that form she goes nicely at home, has done plenty, jumps neatly and I'm hopeful of a tidy run on her debut for us.
Paul's Best Chance - Captain Teague, 14.10 Chepstow: "He is an exciting prospect now starting over hurdles."
