On the back of a break is usually the time to catch Wiseguy on a going day, and that proved to be the case in this contest twelve months ago.
Following a 227-day absence, the Seven Barrows representative impressed from only a 2lb lower mark and, making appeal at the weights once again, can retain his title.
The year prior, Wiseguy won at Exeter following a 191-day break, having previously beaten Hillcrest on debut and finished second and third, respectively, in two of his return outings.
The course-and-distance winner holds solid claims in a race in which he is proven, and he makes the most appeal on an excellent card at Newbury.

Edward Cawley-trained Dont Go Yet put in a respectable effort on his return to action over hurdles earlier this month, finishing third to Powerful in a Punchestown contest from his 19lb lower hurdling mark of 107. He had previously finished second in two consecutive races, when beaten a length-and-a-quarter by Rebel Gold at Wexford and when chasing home Petit Tonnerre at odds of 33/134.00 in Listed company.
Earlier during the campaign, Dont Go Yet had put in multiple respectable performances in tough handicaps, including when fourth in a Listed Leopardstown handicap chase, having achieved the same finishing position behind Midnight It Is in his previous start.
The eleven-year-old, who makes his 32nd career start, a 17th over fences, is only 4lb higher than in his latest chasing run, putting him in with solid each-way claims under Danny Gilligan.

Six-year-old gelding Personal Ambition has already shown to possess plenty of ability, beating Jango Baie to Grade Two success at Kelso as a novice hurdler before finishing second at Grade Two level as a novice chaser.
Following two disappointing efforts during the latter half of his latest campaign, Personal Ambition reverted back over timber in his reappearance at Carlisle last month, emerging with credit when fourth to Hartington, who boosted the form at Haydock last Saturday.
A mark of 130 appears lenient for a horse with plenty of talent and ability, who remains unexposed in this sphere. Personal Ambition should put in a bold bid under Ben Jones at a price of 13/27.50.

Royal Rambler is another who warrants consideration in this intriguing handicap. The Emma Lavelle-trained contender makes only his sixth career start in this contest, partnered once again by Johnny Burke who guided him to a maiden victory at Chepstow in February.
That day, Royal Rambler beat Shade Of Winter, who, although failing to make an impression at Cheltenham earlier this month, appears a promising prospect for Evan Williams. He then went on to be narrowly denied by another horse with potential in The Jukebox Kid at Uttoxeter, before returning to action with a fifth-placed effort at Cheltenham when last seen.
The son of Walk In The Park could take a step forward from his reappearance and fare better this time around, holding each-way claims at a price of 12/113.00.

Course-and-distance winner Give It To Me Oj has been in exceptional form this year, recording six wins from eight starts. He's bidding for a sixth successive victory here, in a great run of form which includes two Flat wins at Epsom, and should be able to make his presence felt once again.
The Gary and Josh Moore-trained contender must reverse form with Live Conti from the Grade One juvenile contest at Aintree during the spring, but represents some value at the prices and could be worth keeping onside.
His defeat of Mythical Moon on the final day of last season at Sandown could turn out to be a great piece of form, and he has put in a number of solid efforts including when beating subsequent Grade Two runner-up Hamlet's Night at Cheltenham last month.

Irish-raider Gorgeous Tom is unexposed in handicap company for Henry de Bromhead having been plying his trade at Graded level as a chaser so far.
He claimed Grade Three success when beating Monbeg Park by five-and-a-half-lengths at Cork last November, before finishing within a length of Croke Park in the Grade One Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse, narrowly beaten by runner-up Heart Wood, now rated 160, and third-placed Firefox, a subsequent Grade Two winner.
Gorgeous Tom chased home Firefox in his Grade Two success at Down Royal earlier this month, and, with a recent run under his belt, could have the class to put in a competitive effort in his first handicap appearance over the larger obstacles.
Whilst he'll need to prove his stamina capabilities under Rules, the Knockeen representative is a relation to one-time Grand National second Cappa Bleu, and has previous point form, once second to Shanagh Bob in a Ballindenisk contest.

Nicky Henderson-trained Hyland should be suited by this assignment and remains open to further progression in only his ninth career start over fences.
The eight-year-old is one to note from a rating of 145, 2lb lower than when beaten by Katate Dori at Kempton in February. He was given plenty to do from a difficult position on that occasion but, although he couldn't lay a glove on the eventual winner, emerged with some credit making late progress and finishing 11-lengths clear of third-placed Our Power.
The Grand National didn't work out favourable for Hyland, but he has the potential to pick up a valuable handicap such as this and warrants serious consideration under James Bowen. A recent run at Cheltenham should put him in good order coming into this race, and he is an attractive proposition at a price of 10/111.00.

In a hugely competitive race in which a case can be made for many, Lowry's Bar is another to consider, representing the training partnership of Philip Hobbs and Johnson White under Sean Houlihan.
The best could be yet to come from this seven-year-old, who makes only his sixth start over fences and is yet to be exposed. He needs to bounce back from a pulled up effort at Kempton in February, when reported to have bled, and lacks a recent run on the back of a 280-day break, however, he has run well fresh in the past, winning on hurdling debut after a 259-day layoff, and could be well treated from a mark of 148.
At a price of 16/117.00, Lowry's Bar is one to note each-way with six places available and could have his part to play in a fascinating renewal of a great race.

Anthony McCann-trained Luminous Light was in great form at Punchestown earlier this month, returning from a 91-day break to win by a length-and-a-half despite drifting in the market.
He didn't get off to the best of starts having not been the most straightforward at the beginning, however, showed a gutsy attitude late on, staying on best of all to pull clear approaching the line. If he can jump off well under JJ Slevin, he could be able to pose a threat in only his sixth start over fences.
This is the highest mark from which he will have raced, but the six-year-old remains open to further improvement and could be able to outrun his odds of 28/129.00 in his first run on this side of the Irish Sea since trained on the Flat by Charlie and Mark Johnston.
