Gelding makes appeal in Hereford contest

Filly could make it third time lucky on the all-weather
Making his second appearance following wind surgery for a yard in decent form recently, Philip Hobbs and Johnson White-trained Masters Legacy is one to note in this 3m1f contest.
The ten-year-old, who makes his 20th start, has been sparingly seen in recent years having spent plenty of time off track. He was absent for 606 days from early 2023 to the autumn of last year, failing to make an impression in three starts during 2024, before returning from a 337-day break at Ascot last month.
On his reappearance, the likeable gelding managed a fourth-place finish, improving on his previous efforts to be beaten only eight-lengths by Monteregard when sent off at odds of 28/129.00. Entitled to take a step forward for the run, he may be worth keeping onside and could exploit a mark of 117 over fences, a 17lb lower rating than his hurdling mark of 134.
Callum Pritchard claims 3lb in the saddle this time and could guide the veteran to a fifth career win, with Masters Legacy holding solid claims at a price of 8/19.00.

Six-year-old gelding Despereaux put in a creditable performane in defeat at Huntingdon in his penultimate start, finishing third at odds of 10/111.00, and was able to make the frame in his following run at Ludlow too, placing second when sent off as the 6/42.50 favourite.
He has been running consistently well in recent outings despite failing to get his head in front, and remains on a workable mark of 101, only 4lb above his latest win.
The Jane Williams-trained contender has 7lb claimer Isabelle Ryder in the saddle this time around, easing his burden at the weights, and holds solid claims over this extended 3m1f trip as he seeks a fifth career win.

Three-year-old filly Boyne Valley performed with credit on her all-weather debut at Dundalk last month, before being sent off at odds of 25/126.00 when upped to a mile-and-a-half at the track last week.
On that occasion, she travelled well enough into the race but was blocked for a run at a crucial stage, eventually fading into eighth. The run can be marked up considering the infringement and, dropping back to a shorter distance, she can fare better this time around under Wesley Joyce.
Despite only winning once in her career, the daughter of Churchill has been able to make the frame on multiple occasions at big prices. She has the ability to be competitive from a rating of 60 with 3lb taken off by her regular rider, and is one to note at odds of 12/113.00 for owner-trainer Michael Mulvany.

Tom Ward-trained Capote's Dream wasn't seen to best effect in a recent Lingfield appearance, but may improve for his reappearance following a 186-day break and may be worth keeping the faith in.
He's now 10lb below his last win and has proven he still retains ability with some decent efforts last year, and a respectable performance over 6f here in the spring.
Last year, the gelding was narrowly denied twice, including from a 3lb higher mark, and makes appeal at the weights in the hands of Alec Voikhansky.
A dual winner at this track, Capote's Dream has the ability to bounce back from a disappointing effort and fare better this time around. At a price of 18/119.00, he makes each-way appeal as he bids for a seventh career success in his 50th start.
