Former Flat performer holds strong claims at Haydock
I Am Spider Man has shown little form since winning a claiming hurdle at Bellewstown for Charles Byrnes during the summer of last year, but is now back on his last winning handicap mark of 104 and could be capable of a resurgence.
He beat Sphagnum at Sligo, recording successive wins at the track following a six-length win over Hypersonic Missiles. The runner-up, Sphagnum, went on to win the Listed Cork Grand National, achieving a rating of 131 over fences in the process.
Whilst a leap of faith is needed with I Am Spider Man, it would be no great surprise to see him return to some form in these conditions, having won from the same mark under a 3lb claimer previously, over an extended 3m1f on a sound surface.
Under 3lb claiming Callum Pritchard, I Am Spider Man could prove worth keeping onside each-way in conditions that suit and from a workable mark if he's able to return to form on debut for Debra Hamer.

Seven-year-old gelding Gingerbred is dropping in class on his return to chasing, having finished third in both of his previous outings over fences when trained by Philip Hobbs and Johnson White. He placed behind Hymac in a higher class Cheltenham contest in April from a mark of 106, beaten only by the now 128-rated winner and now 130-rated runner-up Midnight Our Fred, who subsequently finished second in the Paddy Power Chase to Perceval Legallois.
Gingerbred then finished third to King Turgeon, when in receipt of 12lb from the now 133-rated horse who went on to land the Grand Sefton as well as a valuable Cheltenham handicap. He was absent for 374 days following that excellent effort, but if he has retained ability, he should be able to be competitive on his return to chasing.
Likely in need of his reappearance outing at Exeter in his penultimate start, in his first start for current trainer Carroll Gray, Gingerbred improved plenty to finish second to Hardy Buck over hurdles in his latest run. If he can take another step forward, he could be tough to beat at this level and is on a workable mark on his last winning rating of 100.

Fergal O'Brien-trained contender Serious Challenge makes the most appeal in the Haydock finale, holding solid claims from a rating of 127 in only his fourth handicap over obstacles.
Bred and previously trained by Jim Bolger, the son of Fracas fetched 82,000gns before embarking on his jumping career, winning three of his first four starts for his current yard before a respectable fourth in a competitive Sandown contest on the final day of last season.
When based in Ireland, Serious Challenge showed potential, winning his maiden over an extended mile at Galway before finishing a three-and-a-quarter-length fourth to subsequent Derby winner Auguste Rodin in a Leopardstown Group Two. He also featured in Stakes contests won by the likes of White Birch and Kyprios, as well as placing at Listed level on multiple occasions.
Rated as highly as 102 on the Flat and having made a promising start over hurdles, there should be further improvement to come from this five-year-old gelding who should bounce back in calmer waters following a pulled up effort in the Greatwood at Cheltenham. He was reported to have lost his action during the race by regular rider Johnny Burke.
Lightly raced over hurdles and still unexposed, Serious Challenge could pose a serious threat and may prove better than his current rating.

Entitled to improve for his first run for James Owen following a 220-day break, four-year-old gelding Media Shooter could fare better this time around in this 6f contest. He's dropping in class from a 1lb lower mark, and, despite being 6lb higher than his last win, has the ability to be competitive from his current rating on a going day.
The four-time winner, who was previously trained by Karl Burke, has proven form over course-and-distance, successful in his sole start at the track to date. He remains capable of showing some further improvement based on some of his efforts against tough opposition last year, including a fourth to James's Delight in a competitive York handicap when outrunning odds of 66/167.00.
The son of Advertise is one to note and could take a step forward from his latest effort to put in a bold bid.
