In the 6f handicap for fillies, By The Lake makes appeal on what is her second start for Derek McCormack in the hands of Colin Keane following a creditable second-placed effort on yard debut in her latest start.

When last seen, the daughter of Starspangledbanner was only narrowly denied by Amiata when equipped with a first-time hood (which remains on) in a Navan handicap. She was able to outrun her odds of 28/129.00 to place that day and, from an unchanged mark, should go close once again as she bids for a third career win in her sixth start.

In his first run as a gelding, Mr Vettori is one to note for Jessica Harrington and Scott McCullagh, potentially capable of outrunning his odds and returning to form in this competitive Listed contest.

The son of Lope De Vega has shown some noteworthy form up against some tough opponents during his career to date, chasing home Hawk Mountain in a Curragh maiden last year before getting off the mark at Gowran Park to beat White Sand Beach. On seasonal reappearance in the spring, Mr Vettori finished half-a-length second to Limestone but has since struggled to compete in Group Three contests and, most recently, in a handicap.

The gelding operation could allow him to get back on track and, if at his best, he should pose a threat, still unexposed in his eighth start having shaped with promise previously.

Unexposed in handicap company having made only one appearance in this sphere when down the field in the Britannia Stakes, Victory Tip could return to winning ways under in-form rider Billy Lee in calmer waters.

The Henry de Bromhead-trained contender, who makes only his fifth career start, enjoyed a successful debut at the Curragh earlier in the campaign when winning a 23-runner maiden at odds of 16/117.00. He couldn't make an impression in a Leopardstown Group Three won by subsequent Derby winner Christmas Day, but returned to some form when second at Naas and could be capable of better than shown in deep company at Royal Ascot.

The three-year-old gelding may be worth keeping onside as he could improve further beyond his current rating of 91.

Richard Hughes-trained The Thames Boatman makes appeal at the weights from a mark 2lb lower than when last successful at Goodwood in May. He needs to show significant improvement on his latest run at Newbury, but is back down in class and had previously made the frame when second to Diomed Duke at Lingfield.

At this level, the six-year-old son of Havana Grey should make his presence felt under Finley Marsh and may be worth keeping the faith in from a workable rating.

Four-year-old gelding D Day Major Winter finished second in his first start over the staying trips over 1m6f here when last seen. He chased home Saxophonic that day under Cieren Fallon, who retains the ride, proving no match for the winner late on but putting in an encouraging effort. 

There could be more to come from him as a stayer and this could be his time to finally strike at the 15th attempt. Although he remains a maiden currently, the son of Ulysses has proven he possesses ability and this may be a feasible opportunity for him in a new challenge over an extended two miles.
