Five-year-old gelding Purosangue is an interesting contender on stable debut for Robert Cowell in this 5f sprint. He's winless since landing Listed honours at York over two-and-a-half years ago, but has run well on occasion since, including when just touched off at Group Three level and in handicaps last term.
Last summer, he finished a respectable ninth in the Wokingham Stakes when rated 103, having been beaten only two-lengths by More thunder in his previous run at Newmarket from a 2lb higher mark. In the second-half of the season, he achieved a sixth-placed finish to Desert Falcon at Doncaster when rated 1lb lower than his current mark of 97, before finishing a good fourth in the Ayr Gold Cup when sent off as the 5/16.00 favourite from a 1lb higher rating.

Despite being winless in recent weeks, the yard has been in decent order with horses running well in defeat on their respective returns to the racecourse. Uncle Don was narrowly denied on yard debut after a 106-day break in the All-Weather Vase Sprint at Lingfield and Lexington Blitz was beaten only half-a-length at odds of 14/115.00 in a competitive Musselburgh handicap on Saturday, returning from a 161-day absence.

Richard Hannon-trained Signcastle City won an earlier qualifier for this race from 2lb lower mark, before finishing fifth and fourth respectively in two subsequent qualifiers.
Things haven't quite panned out favourably for him in his two latest outings, having raced freely on both occasions, slowly away in his latest start and forced wide to mount his challenge, too. He could be worth keeping onside considering he's on a workable mark and should fare better if settling well in the early stages under Joe Leavy.
Last season, the son of Dark Angel was able to put in competitive efforts from a much higher mark, including when narrowly denied at Chelmsford from a rating of 86 and when placing later in the season from a ratings of 83 and 82 respectively. The grey has proven he still retains plenty of ability and should be able to pose a threat in this field.

Four-year-old gelding Moonjid is another to consider in this competitive contest. He finished sixth on his seasonal return at Chelmsford when last seen, running a fair race for a long way but just unable to produce a finishing kick on his reappearance
Entitled to improve for his first run for 148 days, the lightly raced son of Mohaather could be able to show progression beyond his current rating of 74, 5lb above his sole win at Nottingham in his penultimate start. He remains unexposed for Mick Appleby, and could put in a better showing than in his latest run, one to note in the hands of Jason Watson.
