As I am off to Punchestown for four days tomorrow morning, I was hoping for an easy week on the work front.
But three ITV racing days, two Racing Only Bettor podcasts on Thursday and Friday, and a trio of Ryan Moore columns means that the Guinness hammer (though I can only manage two pints before switching to red or gin, or both) probably isn't going down hard until the last column is filed on Friday afternoon.
And I have promised to knock out a short tipping column or two if anything catches my eye at Punchestown, as well.
What a pro.
I won't be writing at my usual War And Peace length that is for sure, and only one interested me from a betting standpoint on Tuesday, although Party Central was a fair price at the Sportsbook's 7/2 in the opener, with the emphasis less on stamina here.
Falling mark and course form seal the deal
The one I like is Felix Desjy in the 2m100yd handicap hurdle at 16:50.
He races off just 138 here, and that is his lowest mark since he won the Moscow Flyer here in January 2019.
And he has certainly shaped better than his last two runs would suggest when 10th from the rear in the County Hurdle (off a mark of 143, when sent off at 66/1) and when ridden from off the pace once again, and on the outside, at Fairyhouse last time.
I know he is the old man of the party as a 9yo but I reckon we could well see him being given a more prominent ride here - his best efforts have come when being ridden to the fore - and what seals the deal is his record around this track.
His form figures around this course read 15121, and the two defeats have come in Grade 1 company, including when second to Klassical Dream at this meeting in 2019.
At 12/1, he will do for me as a Punchestown each-way opener in the 16:50, especially with the five places.
I know he opened up at 18/1 in a place on Sunday but I believe 12s is very fair, all things considered.
