NAP: Spartan Arrow has plenty of potential
Spartan Arrow - 18:00 Wolverhampton
Spartan Arrow's sales price rose considerably at the breeze-ups earlier this year and he showed plenty to work on when finishing fifth behind an impressive winner at Yarmouth a fortnight ago.
As can often be the case at Yarmouth, it paid to race prominently that day and Spartan Arrow fared best of those who were held up early on, asked to move into contention around two furlongs out and staying on without ever proving a threat. He is entitled to take a big step forward now and is expected to leave the bare form of that run well behind.
NEXT BEST: Sarah's Verse can resume winning ways
Sarah's Verse - 18:30 Wolverhampton
Sarah's Verse won a course and distance handicap from a 7 lb lower mark earlier this year and she has also won at Windsor. She quickly bounced back from a poor run with arguably a career best when runner-up back here 10 days ago and will remain of interest.
She was outbattled in the closing stages that day by one who belatedly took advantage of a falling mark, but she pulled clear of the remainder and a similar performance will see her be vert competitive here. Benoit de la Sayette retains the ride and she has been handed a good draw in stall 4 so another bold bid is expected.
EACH-WAY: Lockdown Lass poised to strike
Lockdown Lass - 20:00 Wolverhampton
Lockdown Lass hasn't won for over a year but she left the impression that she may be coming back to the boil when third over seven furlongs at this course 10 days ago.
That race wasn't run at a strong pace and she was caught further back than ideal, doing especially well under the circumstances to finish as close as she did, and the handicapper has left her on the same mark for that effort. She is well treated as a result despite being 1 lb 'wrong' at the weights and this longer trip should be within her compass.
